1ST HOLIDAY VILLAGE IN AFRICA TO BE CITED IN LOKOJA, KOGI STATE
A 9-man high powered Committee set-up by the Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, has come up with an 8 point agenda on how to actualize their mandate of developing the first ever Holiday Village in Africa.
A statement by the Chairman of the Kogi State Advisory Intervention Committee on Culture and Tourism, Otunba Segun Runsewe, explained that the Holiday Village is to be cited at the State Capital, Lokoja.
Runsewe noted that the Committee which was inaugurated by Governor Bello late last year (2021), has been up and doing at putting plans together at arriving at reasonable and realizable goals that will bring about development to Kogi State.
“Arising from a meeting today, Tuesday, 01-03-2022, the Committee which has other notable Nigerians; Chief (Dr.) Nike Okundaye, Otunbs Wanle Akinboboye, Engr. Joe Makoju, Dr. Ronke Bello, Kehinde Quadri-Adu, are mandated to rapidly unveil to the world, Kogi as a tourism hub
“The 8 points Agenda includes Visits to all Historical and Heritage Sites in Kogi State, Hosting the very important National Stakeholders’ Meeting in Kogi State, Trips to Farm and National Sites, Interface with Brand names in the Country
“Setting up of Media Players, Building a Brand identity for the Holiday Village, Develop feedback mechanism with the Kogi State Government House and host physical meeting when necessary”
Otumba Runsewe thanked Governor Bello for his vision at setting up the State Advisory Intervention Committee on Culture and Tourism which among other things is poised to fast track all the numerous Tourism potentialities of Kogi State, saying Kogi State boasts of so many historic, cultural and tourism potentials.
The Chairman added that if Governor Yahaya Bello is able to host this much talked about National Industry Stakeholders’ Meeting this year in the State, Kogi State will be the first State in the history of Nigeria to host the National Encompassing Stakeholders Meeting.
While commending the Governor for taking a bold step to develop the 1st ever Holiday Village in Kogi State, Otumba Runsewe pointed out that “every journey of a thousand miles starts with a step and the Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State has taken the bold step which will definitely translate to something big for the youths of today and our future generation to hold on to”
He added that the Committee will send a formal and properly documented Strategic Report to the Governor to enable the Committee practically approach all the issues.
A holiday village is considered as being any globally-run set of accommodation of a commercial nature or not, intended for holidays and recreational stays on an all-inclusive price basis including the supply of meals or individual facilities for preparing them and use of collective facilities for recreational sports and cultural activities.
Holiday villages comprises of individual or collective accommodation and premises allocated for management and services; common facilities for sporting activities and collective entertainment, among others.
