20-year-old student commit suicide Imo State

Global Times Nigeria report that a student from Federal Polytechnic Nekede, Owerri committed suicide in his country home in Umuofocha, a village in the Umudibia Autonomous region of Imo State.

Izu Nnawuihe, 20, is said to have killed himself at around 2:am without giving any explanation, according to The Nation.

According to Augustine, an eyewitness, the deceased was speaking with his mother and younger sister when he abruptly excused himself to go to the restroom.

Izu was discussing with his mother and little sister when he decided to go into the toilet.

The sister of the late student found the deceased body hanging on a rope fastened to a plank on the ceiling while his phone was ringing in the bathroom.

It was when his phone he left behind was ringing that his sister took the phone to the toilet only to discover the lifeless body hanging on a rope tied to a plank on the roof of the ceiling.

Immediately, the deceased sister informed their mother, who then raised the alarm and drew the attention of nearby sympathizers and other persons.

When they arrived at the bathroom, they found a bottle of hypo chemicals in the toilet.

Nobody knows what had angered him to commit suicide

Another eyewitness claimed that the late Izu may have consumed the substance before committing suicide by hanging.

Our correspondent gathered that the 20-year-old Izu Nnawuihe was taken by ambulance to a neighbouring hospital, where the attending physician pronounced him dead.

At the time of filing this report, his lifeless body was submitted to the police for onward investigation and the police are yet to come up with their report.
