Gov. Sule Commends Italian Engineering Firm For Donating Technical Equipments To The State University Keffi

Nasarawa state governor, Engineer Abdullahi A Sule has commended the De Lorenzo Engineering & Training Solutions for the donation of multi million naira technical equipments to the Nasarawa state University, Keffi.

The governor who expressed his appreciation for the kind gesture of the donor of the equipments, noted that the materials arrived at the nick of time when the Faculty of Engineering in the state University is about taking off.

Governor Sule who reiterated his administration’s commitment towards enhancing technological advancement of the state, assured that all efforts are being put in place to ensure the timely completion of the Lafia Institute of Technical Education.

He equally assured of the determination of his administration to upgrade all skills acquisition centres across the State.

To demonstrate the government’s commitment towards technological advancement, Engr. Sule disclosed that relevant organs of government has entered into partnerships with NASENI and other worthwhile collaborators for the rapid development of technical manpower within the academia and among technologically minded people of the state.

The governor therefore urged the state University to fully utilise the equipment so as derive the benefit it offers.

The Governor admonished the students to appreciate the importance of the integrated circuits provided and explore the opportunities it provide to learn and provide capacity, skills and manpower to the upsurge of industries which will soon blossomed in Nasarawa state.

While challenging the students to be inventive and innovative, Engnr Sule counselled them to learn how to operate the integrated circuits.

” You should also learn how to build your own integrated circuits and that is my dream”. Gov. Sule stressed.

Presenting the engineering equipments, Chief Executive Officer of De Lorenzo SPA, Doctor Matteo Prosperi said the company produces engineering training equipment and has so far been able to train engineers and technicians in over 160 countries.

Mr Prosperi stated that the time has come for Nasarawa state to benefit from its more than 68 years existence and experience in high level Italian engineering quality and expertise.

“I strongly believe that our world class engineering training equipment and services will greatly contribute to the University’s vision to be a world class Centre of Excellence”, Matteo stated.

Prosperi expresses optimism of the state achieving its vision of being among the three most competitive states in Nigeria by 2023 considering the Governor’s investment in human capital development.

In his remarks, Executive Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure, NASENI, Engineer Professor Muhammed Sani Haruna appreciated the support of De Lorenzo to the overall growth and development of engineering in Nigeria.

Professor Sani Haruna stated that NASENI will continue to partner the government of Engineer Abdullahi Sule as it seeks to ensure capacity building and provide employment through technical and vocational education, adding that collaboration with De
Lorenzo and the State University will speed the growth of the newly established Engineering Faculty.

“NASENI is also emulating De Lorenzo and will donate its own equipment to the Faculty of Engineering in Nasarawa State University upon completion of manufacturing of its local components at NASENI institute”. Prof Sani stated.

Aside linking the Stare university with Memorial University of Newfoundland in Canada, Prof Sani maintained that Professors and experts from NASENI are available on visiting terms to meet manpower requirements of engineering courses to ensure proper takeoff of engineering programmes

The Vice Chancellor of Nasarawa State University Keff, Professor Suleiman Bala Mohammed commended Governor Abdullahi Sule for facilitating the take off of the faculty.

Gov Bello Host FUL Governing Council Members

The Executive Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Bello host the newly inaugurated Governing Council of the Federal university, Lokoja at the council chamber of government house, Lokoja.

The vice chancellor of the university, Prof Angela Mary Freeman stated while introducing the council members of the university that, her tenure will come to an end in February, 2021 and appealed to the Governor to extend fatherly love to the new council and it members led by Senator Christ Iheanyichukwu Adighije, PhD.

The leader of the delegation who is the Pro-Chancellor /Chairman of the Governing Council, Senator Christ Iheanyichukwu Adighije, PhD stated that, the council and its members are on a courtesy visit to congratulate the Governor on his recent victory at the Supreme Court which the pro chancellor described as a well deserved victory and secondly to commensurate with the government and people of Kogi State most especially the families of those who loss their lives during the fire incident that claimed over 25 lives along Felele area of Lokoja and pray to God for their souls to receive divine grace in eternity. A minute silence was observe in honour of the deceased.

The Pro-Chancellor / Chairman of the Governing Council stated that, among other objectives of their visit is to inform the Governor of the institution arrangement to move to the permanent site at Felele area by the first week of October, 2020 and the university need of approval for the Certificate of Occupancy, payment of compensation to land owners who have voluntarily relinquish their land to the university, perimeter fencing of the land, provision of intercity buses to ease movement of students and others from the temporary site to the new site at Felele among others.

the Governor stated that, the Pro-Chancellor /Chairman of the Governing Council, Senator Christ Iheanyichukwu Adighije, PhD was his mentor while at the federal revenue mobilization and physical commission, stressing that, he is a descplined man whose mentorship has brought him and many others to an enviable position and urged the council members to tap from his wealth of knowledge and experience for the needed development of the institution, the host community, the State and the Country at large.

The Governor appealed to the council to look into the local content of the state when the choice of the next Vice Chancellor begin and on the request presented, the Governor in his usual magnanimity, promised to approve the certificate of occupancy when all the processes are completed and promised to look into other demands as soon as the financial situation of the state improves.

The Chief of Staff to the Governor, Pharm Abdulkareem Jamiu Asuku, the Commissioner of education, finance and other members of the state executive councils were present during the meeting.

Highlight of the visit, was an official group photograph with the governor and the council members.

Kogi Education Commissioner Lauds Ongoing Infrastructure Development In COETK, Describes Achievements As Satisfactory

The developemental strides ongoing at the College of Education Technical Kabba has been described as one that is geared towards making the College as one of the best in terms of quality of instruction and learning in the country as envisaged by Gov. Yahaya Bello.

The Kogi State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Kabba, Hon. Wemi Jones made the disclosure while inspecting ongoing projects at the permanent site of the College, with a call for sustained efforts by the Provost and the Management not to rest on there oars.

Hon. Wemi Jones who was in the College for a working visit to inspect the levels of preparation and compliance put in place with the covid19 safety measures put in place ahead of the reopening of the College.

Hon. Wemi Jones lauded the efforts of the Provosts, commended the Provost in building the e- Library Extension, 300 capacity lecture hall, Construction of Business Education Laboratory Building, including offices and laboratory.

He described the Procurement of Education Laboratory Equipment for Business Education Laboratory, the Construction of Home Economics Laboratory Building including offices with work in progress at 70% completion as commendable.

He lauded the Procurement of various Laboratory equipments for the Home Economics Laboratory, Construction of lavatory block with Borehole, Steel Tank and steel Support under, as well as the purchase of some vehicles, described the present administration of Gov. Bello as one that makes education a priority.

The Commissioner commended the present administration’s love for education, disclosing that the administration has put in place lasting and solid legacies that would stand the test of time.

He assured that the present administration would not relent in given the needed attention to the educational sector, assuring that the College of Education Technical Kabba occupies a vital place in the heart of the Gov. Yahaya Bello’s administration.

Earlier in a remarks, Mrs Victoria Olusola Jagboro, Provost College of Education Technical Kabba, lauded Gov. Yahaya Bello for turning around the educational sector, amidst scarce resources, described the Governor as educational friendly.

The Provost disclosed that the efforts to ensure quality of learning and infrastructure is in line with the directives of the present administration, assured that the Management would always do all it can to justify the plan for sustainable education.

She said in a bid to open up the college for Government intervention and partnering efforts is on to expand the revenue base of the College, through establishing a block molding industry for commercial purposes, Introduction of new academic programs, Affiliating the college with University for degree program, Part time NCE program, setting up Skill acquisition program for artisans amongst others.

Zulum Declines Naming Orchard After Himself, Honours Former Governor Shettima

Borno Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum, on Tuesday declined the naming of an orchard after him by the Ministry of Environment. He however, directed the orchard located at the Borno State University to be named after his predecessor, Senator Kashim Shettima.

“The Commissioner had just announced naming of the University orchard after me, instead, I have directed the orchard to be named after my predecessor. He established this University and therefore, in recognition of his tremendous achievements, I personally want to name this orchard after His Excellency, Senator Kashim Shettima”, Zulum said.

Governor Zulum was speaking during a flag off of 1,000,000 tree planting campaign across the state in response to changing ecosystem and climate conditions.

This year’s tree planting campaign which is the first of its kind in the last ten years become necessary due to pressures from desertification, deforestation, soil erosion, poverty, and insecurity, Zulum noted.

The Governor added that human activities like bush burning, illegal tree felling has continuously put pressure on the already fragile ecosystem thereby threatening food security.

Governor Zulum expressed concern on the desertification facing Borno State, stating that his administration is committed to reversing the scenario.

The Governor further said, “Government has already commenced raising of some seedlings, with the annual one kilometre desert reclamation programme which is handled by the Ministry of Environment.

Zulum also announced a policy under which all construction should be accompanied by planting of trees to cushion the environmental impacts of such developmental projects.

Besides, the governor also made a symbolic presentation of an alternative source of energy to firewood in form of gas cookers and wood-efficient stoves.

The campaign which kicked off at the Borno State University premises after more than 10 years was attended by the Deputy Governor, Umar Usman Kadafur, Chief of Staff, Government House, Prof. Isa Hussaini Marte, Head of Service Barr. Simon Malgwi among other top government officials.

Earlier, the Commissioner of Environment, Hon. Modu Lawan Buba Walama said one million assorted trees including those with commercial values will be planted in nine Local Government Areas.
