The Kogi State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Engr. Abubakar Ohere has commended the 21 Local Government Administrators, Directors of Local Government and Treasurers in Kogi state for their unprecedented performance throughout their 3 years tenure.
Commissioner for Local Governments and Chieftaincy Affairs, Engineer Abubakar Ohere who rated them high during a valedictory session with the Councils officials in his office on Monday, urged them to remain proud for being part of historic impact of the tenure of Alhaji Yahaya Bello.
“The history of the 21 local government councils in the state had hitherto been replete with underdevelopment, corruption, violence and other things antithetical to development, but, today, we can say God has done wonderfully well with us by assisting us to successfully turn around their fortunes.
“Our four years in the saddle have been very eventful. We came, we saw and I can boastfully say we have achieved. We came with a development principle that we called the pyramid of development, where we considered security and infrastructure as pivotal.
“To all these, we have been very committed and we can today beat our chests and say we have restored the glory of Kogi State. We have returned the state to the top level among the comity of modern, developed States.
“We met Kogi State in bricks and we have now build marble,” he said.
Ohere appreciated them for the support and cooperation they gave to his office leading to effective delivery of good governance.
Administrator of Ijumu Local Government, Hon. Isa Taufiq who is also the Chairman of the Association of Local Governments Of Nigeria (ALGON), thanked the commissioner for the support and expressed gratitude for the opportunity given to them to serve,
“It has not been an easy task but we have worked hard” and expressed happiness with the commendations from the commissioner, saying, “it is the best a servant can get from his master.”
