Kogi Council Poll: Prince Alih Unveils Agenda, Embark On Grassroots Consultation In Bassa LG Ahead Of Council Poll

Bassa Local Government Chairmanship hopeful in the 2020 forthcoming council election under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prince Adamu Ibrahim Alih, has revealed that lack of quality leadership and development give room to series of under development of Bassa LGA of the State.

Prince Alih spoke recently during a consultation tour to formally declare his intention to contest the Chairmanship seat for Bassa LG and call on the people of the area to support and join him take the council to an enviable height.

According to Prince Alih, lack of leadership and development, poverty has been the bane militating against peace, security and development in the area, adding that his aspiration would put smile on the faces of the people if given the chance and APC ticket to serve, he will battle poverty eradication and other economic challenges in the area.

The popular Chairmanship aspirant unveiled some of his agenda for the LG which he tagged Bassa Restoration 2020: they are include, Education, Health, Infrastructure, Agriculture, Peaceful Coexistence of Bassa citizens irrespective of religion and tribes in the council and other include youth and women empowerment among others, assuring that he will pursue a programme devoid of ethnic bias and that the goal of his programme will be to serve with fear of God in the council area in a most virile way and work towards ensuring that peace prevail in all communities.

He also promised to embark on Poverty eradication programme, carryout empowerment through development of educational Facilities, sports development in the local government area.

He noted that during consultation him and his winning team have visited the three (3) districts which are Oguma, Gboloko and Mozum Kingdoms respectively where they met the traditional rulers, opinion moulders, youths and women among others.

He disclosed that his team has been moving round in order to engage the grassroots effectively on getting first-hand information about their needs.

The Bassa LG Chairmanship hopeful says he is a candidate to serve all and not imposed candidate, appealing to other aspirants not to get involve into character degrading of others, he lauded the Administration of GYBCEDO as the best good things that has ever happened in Kogi State.

“I Was Not Aware Of Arapaja’s Visit To Abeokuta” – Ogun PDP Chairman.

The Chairman of People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun State, Dr Sikirulai Ogundele has said he was not informed of the visit to the state, on Saturday, by the National Vice Chairman (South West) of the party, Ambassador Taofeek Arapaja.

Dr Ogundele, who said it was strange that the Zonal Chairman could visit former President Olusegun Obasanjo, in Abeokuta, without informing the party’s structure in Ogun state, said it was obvious that he (Arapaja) was still acting as the same script he acted as Zonal Chairmanship aspirant.

The Ogun State PDP Chairman said in a statement on Saturday, that it was important that he made his position clear to the public to avoid being seen as deliberately shunning the Zonal Chairman’s visit.

He counselled Arapaja to purge himself of sectionalism, saying; “having extended hands of fellowship to him, it is obvious that he wants to function as a sectional Zonal Chairman and we will keep watching him.”

He said “visiting former President Obasanjo in Abeokuta like an orphan is a slap on the PDP as a party and the earlier Ambassador Arapaja begins to see himself as zonal Chairman of all members of the party in the South-West, the better for him.”

While describing as unacceptable, the situation whereby Ambassador Arapaja was now going cap in hands to seek fund for the running of the party in the zone, Dr Ogundele said he wondered why the Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde cannot fund the Zonal Exco.

He described the visit to Obasanjo to seek link to some money-bags to be visited to beg for fund as a slap on the party in the zone, adding that what should be paramount to the Arapaja led zonal Exco was the bringing together of all stakeholders in the party.

The National Association of Northern Students (NANNS) on Saturday, presented an award of excellence to a chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Hon. Ishaku Tanko Yamawo, as Icon of Societal Transformation.

2023: Nasarawa West Senate Slot: Toto LG Need To Be Considered – Says Rtd Justice Nabalah.

A retired judge of the Shari’a Court of Niger State, Retired Justice Muhammad Saidu Naballah, has on empathised on the need for Toto Local Government Council of Nasarawa state to be considered for the west senatorial seat of the state in 2023 general election.

Naballah, made the observation during Iftar consultative meeting of the Nasarawa west indigenes in Suleja, at the private residence of Barrister Shuaibu Labaran Magaji, on Friday.

He said out of the five local governments in Nasarawa west, only Toto local government council has neither produce representatives from both hallow chambers of the national assembly since the country’s return to democracy in 1999, even as he said Barrister Magaji, has the requisite position to represent the good people of Nasarawa west senatorial district in 2023 election.

According to him, considering Toto local government council for the Nasarawa west senatorial seat will go a long way in giving the good people of the area a sense of belonging, adding that it would also reshaped political atmosphere of the area.

“In fairness, truth and justice, I suggest that there was the need for Toto local government council to be considered for Nasarawa west senatorial seat in 2023 general election. I made this observation because, looking at the record since 1999, Toto local government has no any representatives at the national assembly and I believe that the stakeholders will sit down and consider my clarion call on this,” he said.

Naballah, however, said that indigenes of Nasarawa west senatorial zone who are residents in Suleja, have after series of meetings and consultations, unanimously resolved to supports Barrister Magaji, in his quest to represent the good people of Nasarawa west senatorial zone in 2023 election.

Responding, the Barrister Shuaibu Labaran Magaji, who is a prosecutor in the office of the Attorney General And Minister of Justice, said he was overwhelmed with the support he has been receiving from various groups and associations which has been putting pressure on him to contest for the Nasarawa west senatorial seat in 2023.

He said there was no doubt that the good people of Nasarawa west senatorial zone must have identified a lot of qualities in him, which he said he could not ignored such clarion, rather than to throw his ambition into rings of Nasarawa west senatorial seat in 2023.

“Even though, my consultation is still ongoing as we are still reaching out to all the APC stakeholders and party stalwarts across Nasarawa west senatorial district, which by the grace of God, I shall make my position known in no distance time,” he said.
