The Deputy Governor of Kogi State, Chief David Edward Onoja, has commended the National and Kogi state Emergency Management Agencies for their prompt response to the the plight of the victims of the unfortunate attack on the people of Tawari in Kogi local government area of the state.
Addressing the victims of the attacks and displaced persons, Chief Onoja reassured them that the state government will continue to be with the people of Tawari community, promising that those bandits who launched the attacked will be fished out and dealt with decisively.
He therefore thanked the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA and State Emergency Management Agency, SEMA for their prompt response with the provisions of food and other necessities being distributed to the affected people of the area, describing the action as highly commendable.
Chief Onoja explained that his presence in Tawari was to represent his principal and Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Bello who has shown concern about welfare of his people and how to get the ransacked community back to life.
He described the governor as a leader who has laid a solid foundation to checkmate all forms of criminality, pointing out that the present Administration has zero tolerance for crime in the state.
Onoja promised that the Governor Yahaya Bello-led administration will not relent in its promise to compassate the affected communities.
The deputy governor, who commended Tawari people for the patience and tolerance, urged them to join hands with the government in consolidating ongoing strategies for security architecture in the State.
“Just yesterday we were in Lafia for north central security summit in collaboration with IG of police and 6 other States and FCT bordering Kogi fully in attendance for security purpose. We have a governor that will never joke with security of his people and in this area we all know that he is a top class manager.
“He has made giant strides, which now positions our state as most peaceful State. The governor is doing well and needs our support physically and our prayers spiritually”.
The head of NEMA appreciated the state government’s efforts and spelt out all the items brought by the FG which include, Bags of rice, bags of beans, 1000 pieces of mattresses, bags of gari, salt, zincs, cement, nails and other items.
Highpoint of the event was official flag off of food and non food items donated to Tawari community as means of Succour to alleviate their suffering.
The event brought together people within and outside Kogi State among whom are, Deputy Chief of Staff, Chief Administrator of Kogi LG, State APC Vice Chairman, APC East Zonal Chairman, permanent member 1 Kogi State LG service commission, NEMA, SEMA both from State and outside the State.
NDDC: Niger Delta Youths Back Akpabio, NDDC Interim Management Committee, Warn Detractors
Youths in the Niger Delta region on Tuesday extolled the sterling qualities of the Minister of the Niger Delta Affairs, Chief Godswill Akpabio, describing him as a man of honour.
Besides, the youths, under the aegis of Niger Delta Youth Movement (NDYM) praised the National Assembly for working with the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs towards the realization of its objectives.
At a gathering in Calabar, the youths expressed delight and satisfaction with the high degree of determination so far exhibited by Senator Akpabio to move the Niger Delta region forward.
‘Senator Godswill Akpabio is a shining example, a model to all of us, of what service is all about. He has so far demonstrated an admirable commitment to doing everything possible to develop the Niger Delta region the youths said.
Addressing newsmen after their one day conference in Cross River State, Secretary General of NDYM, Dr. Raymond Umanah said the youths praised Akpabio for embracing the challenge of developing the region with a missionary zeal, restructuring the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) and reintroducing public accountability for the use of public resources.

The youths commended the growing unity and understanding among stakeholders in the region.
They youths emphasized national development, patriotism, transparency and accountability.
The youths also praised the Minister of the Niger Delta Affairs for tackling effectively impediments in the way of improving development in the region, pulling the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) back from the state of retrogression and giving the region the desired sense of purpose and direction.
Remaining kidnapped FRSC Officials Regain Freedom- Gov Sule
Nasarawa State Governor, Engineer Abdullahi Sule, has revealed that all the remaining kidnapped officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), out of the initial 26 recently kidnapped along Maraban-Udege, have regained their freedom.
Engineer Sule disclosed this while playing host to the Market Enterprise Development Advisor, Fatima Mukthar Buhari, on Monday, at the Government House.
While congratulating the state Police Commissioner, Bola Longe, for the wonderful job of securing the release of the remaining kidnapped FRSC operatives, the Governor further thanked all the security agencies, as well as all those who worked hard to achieve the feat.
“I am happy to announce that all the 26 members of the FRSC that were recently kidnapped have been released yesterday.
“I want to thank all the security agencies and all those who worked very hard to ensure that we achieved that feat. I want to thank them for all the efforts they are making in order to ensure that Nasarawa remains safe,” Engineer Sule stated.
Recall that 26 FRSC officials travelling for a training programme in at the FRSC Academy in Udi, Enugu State, were abducted by suspected bandits, with three of the kidnapped operatives earlier rescued.
Edo Election: APC Caretaker Committee Congratulates Obaseki On Victory
The All Progressives Congress has congratulated Governor Godwin Obaseki on his re -election as the Governor of Edo State.
This was contained in a statement by the chairman of the APC national caretaker committee, Mai Mala Buni, on Monday .
The statement was released a few hours after Buni and the chairman of the party’s governorship election campaign for Edo State, Abdullahi Ganduje, met with the President , Muhammadu Buhari, behind closed doors.
APC Caretaker Chairman described the election as peaceful, adding that its outcome represented a victory for Nigeria’s democracy .
Buni explained that some problems within APC worked against the party and its candidate in the just concluded election.
The governor subsequently warned against disunity in the party.
