Abba Kyari, most misunderstood personality – Presidential New Media Aide, Ahmed

The Personal Assistant to the President on New Media, Mallam Bashir Ahmed, has described President Muhammadu Buhari’s Chief of Staff, late Abba Kyari, as one of the most misunderstood persons in the history of Nigeria.

The Presidency had in the early hours of Saturday announced the death of Abba Kyari, who had tested positive to the ravaging COVID-19.

Kyari died on Friday.

In what appears to be a tribute to late Abba Kyari, on his Twitter page, @BashirAhmaad, in Abuja on Saturday, the presidential aide also described the deceased as a man of honour, who sacrificed his life for Nigeria.

“Abba Kyari certainly was one of the most misunderstood people in the history of Nigeria.

“Those who had the opportunity to know him personally will tell you how extremely a good person he was.

“He was a man of honour and will be remembered as someone who sacrificed his life for this country,’’ Ahmed twitted.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Kyari was first appointed as Chief of Staff to the President in August 2015, and reappointed in 2019 by President Buhari.

Kyari, aged 82, left behind a wife and four children and would be buried later in the day.

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) had announced that as at 11.00 p.m. on April 17, there were 493 confirmed cases of COVID-19 pandemic in the country, while 157 had been recovered, with 17 death.

The newly returned Governor of Edo State, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has condoled with the government and people of Kogi State, over the tanker explosion which claimed many lives.

In the condolence message issued in Benin City, the state capital on Thursday, Obaseki said: “I condole with the government and people of Kogi State over the tanker explosion that claimed several lives.

“The explosion is an urgent reminder of the need to prioritize road and rail infrastructure development in Nigeria.”

The governor added: “Our hearts go out to families that lost persons and wish them the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.”

Just In: Another Gas Explosion Hits Lagos

A gas explosion is currently rocking one area at Iju Ishaga, Lagos State.

According to reports gathered, many of the people who involved in the incident were injured.

The Punch reports that buildings around the scene of the explosion suffered a partial collapse. As of the time of filing this report, the details of the gas explosion were sketchy An eyewitness, Ikechukwu, said, “We just heard a loud sound around 03.30 pm and we suddenly began to see smoke.

The explosion is massive and we are not sure of the casualties but many people are injured.

The spokesperson for the Lagos State Emergency Agency, Nosa Okunbor, confirmed the incident.

Chairman Kogi State Security Trust Fund, Hon Abdulmalik Samari has appealed to all road users to be sure their vehicles are road Worthy to avoid Carnage on thr road.

Hon. Samari made the statement in an exclusive chat with journalists in lokoja, the state capital.

While condoling with the victims of the recent Felele tragedy, described the incident as tragic and shocking.

He called on the relevant authorities to ensure vehicles are road Worthy to save lives and to minimise the rates of accidents on the road.

He assured the residents of the state of his agencies commitment to the protection of lives and properties in the State. According to him, Kogi state Security Trust Fund will compliment the efforts of the state government in making Kogi safe for economic activities to strive.
