COVID-19: Bread Bakeries May Close Down in Kogi — Alhaji Audi

Following the sharp rise in the cost of production of bread occasioned by the lockdown of all activities in a bid to contain Coronavirus pandemic.

Foremost Master Baker in Kogi state, Alhaji Audi One (aka) Owoni Boy, raised the alarm in an interview with our reporter on Tuesday in Lokoja.

Alhaji Audi, who expressed disappointment over the unnecessary increase on the prises of flour and sugar, described the action of the producing company of the vital ingredients as sabotage.

He said the federal government has since the commencement of Corona virus pandemic, assured that costs of food and medicine will not rise and producers and vendors are exempted from any order restricting movement of persons and stay at home.

The Master Baker disclosed that sugar that was sold # 14,000 is now # 23,000, while flour that was purchased at # 9,800 now costs #11,500.

While assuring that the costs of bread will not be increase, however warned that the bakeries may be forced to close down if cost of production continue to rise.

He therefore appealed to the federal government to check the excesses of the companies producing the ingredients for the production of bread in the country. He accused them of sabotaging the efforts of President Muhammadu Buhari which is aimed at combating the deadly COVID 19.

Joshua in a statement he personally signed and made available to News men prayed for eternal rest of those that died in the incident and fortitude to bear the loss on part of their families as well as quick recovery for the injured.

Kogi Inferno: Gov Obaseki Condoles With Kogi Govt, People And Wish Them Fortitude To Bear The Loss

The newly returned Governor of Edo State, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has condoled with the government and people of Kogi State, over the tanker explosion which claimed many lives.

In the condolence message issued in Benin City, the state capital on Thursday, Obaseki said: “I condole with the government and people of Kogi State over the tanker explosion that claimed several lives.

“The explosion is an urgent reminder of the need to prioritize road and rail infrastructure development in Nigeria.”

The governor added: “Our hearts go out to families that lost persons and wish them the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.”

Just In: Another Gas Explosion Hits Lagos

A gas explosion is currently rocking one area at Iju Ishaga, Lagos State.

According to reports gathered, many of the people who involved in the incident were injured.

The Punch reports that buildings around the scene of the explosion suffered a partial collapse. As of the time of filing this report, the details of the gas explosion were sketchy An eyewitness, Ikechukwu, said, “We just heard a loud sound around 03.30 pm and we suddenly began to see smoke.

The explosion is massive and we are not sure of the casualties but many people are injured.

The spokesperson for the Lagos State Emergency Agency, Nosa Okunbor, confirmed the incident.
