Barr. Tanko Congratulates Gov Bello On Victory At Supreme Court, Says The Apex Court Judgement As An Affirmation Of The People’s will As Expressed In November 16 Poll.

The immediate past Administrator of Koton-Karfe, Kogi Local Government Area, Hon. Barr. Chief Muhammed Tanko Musa Osuku, has congratulated his benefactor and incumbent Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello, over Monday’s Supreme Court Verdict that validated his election as Governor.

Barr. Tanko who is also the Senior Special Assistant on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs to Governor Bello, described the apex court Judgement as an affirmation of the people’s will as expressed through their votes in the November 16, governorship election in the state.

In a statement signed by his Media Aide, Yahaya Idris and made available to newsmen said, “It is a great day for democracy and the people of Kogi State.

“The highest court in the country has finally settled the controversies surrounding the Kogi governorship election and affirmed Governor Yahaya Bello as the true winner of the election.

“I want to congratulate Governor Yahaya Bello and his Deputy Chief David Edward Onoja on their victory at the Supreme Court. This victory is for the good people of Kogi state, they are the real winners in the context. We have no doubt in Gov. Bello’s ability to take Kogi State to the next level of development and prosperity”.

He however, pray for long life, sound health and strength of the Governor to enable him go on with the laudable programs he has started.

Sheikh Abduljabbar Nasiru Kabara, the Kano-based Islamic cleric famous for his controversial religious commentaries and statements that are regarded as statements mortifying the companions and sacrilegious to the Holy Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W) has been charged to court for blasphemy.

A statement issued by the commissioner for information, Malam Muhammad Garba indicated that the development followed the receipt of the First Information Report from the police by the Office of the Attorney General and commissioner for justice which prepared charges against the cleric.

Abduljabbar was subsequently arraigned on Friday, July 16 before an Upper Sharia Court Judge, Kofar Kudu, Alkali Ibrahim Sarki Yola, where the charges that included blasphemy, incitement, and sundry offences were mentioned.

The statement added that after the court sitting, it adjourned the case to July 28, while the scholar would remain under police custody until Monday when he would be sent to prison till the adjourned date.

An FCT High Court sitting in Gudu, Abuja, yesterday, fixed September, 9th and 14th 2021 to hear a suite filed by the All Progressives Congress (APC) chairmanship candidate of Abaji Area Council, for the February 12, 2022 council election, Alhaji Mohammed Angulu Loko, over his substitution by the national body of the party.

The presiding judge, Justice Adeniyi Esho, announced the adjournment after all counsels to the defendant failed to file their defense.

The party’s chairmanship candidate, Alhaji Mohammed Angulu Loko, through his counsel, ishaka Mudi Dikko (SAN) filed a suit before the court to challenge the national body of the APC for subtituting him after he duly won and was declared winner of the April 23, 2021 chairmanship primaries, which he said was monitored by INEC, APC electoral committee and security agents.

He added that it was wrong after Alhaji Mohammed Angulu Loko, was duly declared as winner of the party’s primaries and was issued with certified copies of result as the authentic chairmanship candidate, the national body of APC should turned around to submit Abubakar Umar Abdullahi, name who came second at the primaries to INEC as the party’s flagbearer.

He said in the suit that Alhaji Mohammed Angulu Loko, won 150 votes against his opponent, Abubakar Umar Abdullahi, who scored 123 votes, saying it was wrong for the party to submit the aspirant name who came second in the primaries to INEC.

Alhaji Loko, therefore, prayed the court to declared him as the authentic chairmanship flagbearer of APC for the February 12, 2022 council election in Abaji Area Council.

However, Global Times Nigeria report the counsel to the respondent, Abdulghaniyu Aruwo, in his preliminary objection, urging the court to dismiss the claimant suit for filing out of time.

The Chief judge of Kogi State, Hon Justice Henry Adebola Olusiyi hosted international federation of women lawyers (FIDA) Kogi State Chapter.

The Chairperson of the Association, Mrs Ajuma Lilian Okolo along with the Secretary of the Association, Barr Kemi Omaiza Usman stated that, the group were in the office of the Chief Judge to appreciate God and the Executive Governor of Kogi State, His Excellency, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, the judicial friendly Governor for the confirmation of the appointment as the substantive Chief Judge of the state, stating that, as the patron of the association, they’re delighted with the modest achievements and described the Chief Judge as one of the outstanding Chief Judge in Nigeria who believes in due process and speed administration of justice system as could be seen from the visit to correctional homes in the State in recent time and commended the Governor for the well deserve confirmation.

Responding, the Chief judge, hon Justice Henry Adebola Olusiyi thanked the association and its executive member’s for identify with him and assured them of his continued support when ever the need arise.
