Being The Speech Delivered By The Special Adviser To The Governor Of Kogi State on Special Projects and Focal Person, Social Investment Programme.
You would recall that few months ago, the Executive Governor of Kogi State, His Excellency Alhaji Yahaya Bello inaugurated Kogi COVID-19 Action Recovery and Economic Stimulus (KOGI CARES) commitee under the Chairmanship of our erudite Mukadam Asiwaju Idris. Kogi CARES is a world bank assisted program in partnership with Kogi State government for economic stimulus. The program consists of 3 Results Areas (RAs) namely;
RA1 – Focuses on Social Protection
RA2 – Focuses on Agriculture and;
RA3 – Focuses on Micro Small and Medium scale enterprises (MSMEs)
BELLO-KEEP is a concept that was initiated for the implementation of Result Area 3 (MSMEs) grants using GEEP platform in partnership with Bank of Industry following the recent approval of Governor Yahaya Bello to engage 100 youth as Agents of BELLO-KEEP for real-time electronic data capturing of MSMEs in Kogi State.
This program will be first of its kind in Kogi State considering the cutting-edge technology that will be deployed in the management of the program across the entire circle from data capturing through the verification to white listing and disbursement of the grants. The program will be implemented in line with global best practice, and in total compliance with the world bank guidelines for transparency and accountability.
It is noteworthy that all the successful agents were selected on trust. Your honesty and dedication to service are expected to be displayed in your best capacity. You all have been entrusted with a huge responsibility and are therefore expected to uphold utmost honesty in discharge of your duty as any act of violation of the program guidelines by any agent will not be tolerated and the offender may be penalized by the appropriate authority.
I sincerely appreciate His Excellency Governor Yahaya Bello for this wonderful initiative in fulfillment of his campaign promises towards human capital development as a priority of of his second term in office and the pledge to do more for the good people of Kogi State.
I wish to also commend the Honourable Commissioner for Finance, Budget and Economic Planning who also double as Chairman of Kogi CARES, Mukadam Idris Asiwaju Asiru, for his untiring commitment and leadership capacity towards the success of this program and to all members of Kogi CARES especially the Honourable Commissioner for Commerce and Industry for your collaborative cooperation, support and team spirit.

The Secretary of the association, AbdulKareem Ibrahim Omeiza, on behalf of the group congratulated his Excellency over his supreme court Victory in the last gubernatorial election, he further stated their role in the last election, and immeasurable contributions to the victory recorded in the November 16 Gubernatorial election.
Speaking further, he highlighted some challenges being faced while striving to get their daily bread, despite their active participation in the last election, according to him, there are graduates from different higher institute of learning, skilled labourers, unskilled ones, as well as other workers under building and construction.
In reaction, The former SSA to Governor Bello on Alternative Medicine, Hon. Mustapha Onoruoyiza, thanked them for their support, patience and resilience, which has so far been demonstrated , he also assured the people of government’s readiness to put total stop to their suffering.

The Minister of State for Industry, Trade and Investment, Amb Mariam Katagum, in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) disclosed that the federal government of Nigeria Have begun the application for free business registration for 250,000 MSMEs nationwide. This is in line with the recently announced specific programmes aimed at cushioning the impact of COVID-19 on MSME businesses.
According to her, “We have got the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) to register 250,000 businesses free of charge.

Distributes More Transformers To Rural Communities To Boost Power Supply, Nasaarawa Assembly Urges NAePA.
The Nasarawa State House of Assembly Committee on Works, has urged the state Electricity Power Agency ( NAePA) to distribute more transformers to communities across the state in order to boost power supply in the state.
This, the committee said if done would boost the socio-economic activities, improve revenue base and the standard of living of the people of the state.
Hon Abdulaziz Suleiman Danladi, the Chairman of the committee made the call on Wednesday in Lafia when the agency appeared before the committee for the assessment of its 2020 budget performance.
Suleiman Danladi ( APC- Keffi East) said that the importance of power supply to the development of any society could not be overemphasised, hence the need of the committee call in that direction.
” You are urged to carry out area evaluation across the state and connect them with national grid.
” As this will go a long way in boosting the socio-economic activities of our people and improve on their standard of living considering the importance of electricity to societal development.
” I also call on you to distribute more transformers across the state in order to boost power supply and for the overall development of the state,” he said.
The chairman has assured the agency of the committee’s support to succeed.
He has also assured of effective collaboration with the state government in order to boost power supply in the state.
Earlier, Mr Abubakar Danjuma Ango, the Managing Director of the Agency said that the agency need N2.4billion to connect the entire state with national grid.
He appreciated the committee for supporting the activities of the agency.
The managing director, however, identified the challenges facing the Agency to include office accomodation, under-staffing, mobility,take off grant among others.
