Nasarawa State Governor, Engineer Abdullahi Sule, has commended President Muhammadu Buhari, as well as officials of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from the national, state and local government levels, for working hard to make the party attractive to Nigerians.
Engineer Sule made the commendation while playing host to APC stakeholders from Kokona Local Government Area of the state, at the Government House, on Tuesday.
The Governor specially commended the President, elected officials, as well as party officials across all levels, for whatever good the APC administration is doing at the moment to attract people into the party.
Engineer Sule said the recent return to the party by people like Dr. Ngargu and Hon. Ishaq Kana, alongside their supporters, is a huge success for Kokona LGA and the party.
“And so we thank Mr President for the good work, our national officials, state officials, both from the executive, as well as the legislature, for whatever it is that we are doing right to attract people like that,” the Governor stated.
He however noted that nothing drives people away from their home more than injustice, stressing that now that people are returning to the APC, everything should be done to ensure justice for all.
“We should try to practice justice. Because if we don’t do that, we will again lose these kinds of people.
“It’s not their returning that we are going to celebrate, what we will celebrate is our ability to retain them,” he said.
Engineer Sule therefore urged party faithful to work hard and to be transparent, accountable and truthful, as according to him, if supporters and members of the party continue to be fair and just, the APC will continue to attract more people into its fold.
The Governor further commended the people of Kokona LGA, for standing out in how they peacefully rotate political offices around groups in the area, urging them to sustain the practice.
He pointed out that the local government area is blessed with people who have capacity, as well as arable land for farming, with the opportunity to create wealth and employment.
Engineer Sule explained that the decision of his administration to extend the Mararaba-Udege road to Agwada, was informed by the desire to open up the area for development.
Speaking on the Gwandere-Sabon Gida road started by the Senator Umaru Tanko Al-makura, the Governor said his administration is working on the project.
“Gwandere-Sabon Gida road is very important and we are working on it. In fact, we are thinking of seeing how we can divert this road, to see how it can link through Dari to Garaku. This will open up opportunities for agriculture, industrialization and other things,” he stated.
Earlier, leader of the Kokona LGA APC stakeholders delegation, State Attorney- General and Commissioner for Justice, Associate Professor Abdulkarim Abubakar Kana, said the purpose of the visit was to renew their loyalty to the Engineer Sule administration, restate their commitment and support the programmes of the Governor towards fulfilling the social and political contract reached with the people of the area.

Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has said politicians must begin to prioritise the vehicle of governance to benefit the people, adding that political leaders must remain selfless for Nigeria to attain its full potential.
Speaking to journalists in Benin City, Obaseki said he is not in government to be famous or make money at the expense of ensuring development that will benefit the people.
The governor noted that there is need for a mechanism to be put in place to ensure transparency in government, noting, “Only few persons in government are held accountable for their decisions in government.”
According to him, “I am not in government to make money; I am not in government for fame. I am in government to serve. The youths are the reasons why I am in government. If I cannot serve you, I will quit.”
He added: “The issues of better government, proper governance and transparency are what we are emphasising. When we have younger people who can use technology in government, we will have transparency and accountability, which informed my decision to have many younger people working for my government.
“For things to be working in Nigeria there are structural challenges that we must fix. Let us not gloss over the cracks. Let us go to the foundation and begin to fix the conditions because the cracks are expanding so wide.”
Obaseki continued: “In a democracy, you need an institution that will ensure law and order and that is why we have the security agencies.
“Our security arrangement in the country must reflect our federal system as I can’t be a governor of a state and not able to hire and fire my Commissioner of Police, but #ENDSARS protests have helped us start the process.”

The Kogi State Commissioner for Water Resources, Hon. Abdulmumini Danga, has urged Muslims across the globe to emulate the good morals, and teachings, tolerance of Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W).
In a statement, the Commissioner urged Muslim faithful to continue to show love and sacrifice as espouse in Islam as they celebrate the birth of Prophet Mohammed (S.A.W).
The water Commissioner urged them to commit themselves to the teachings of the prophet not just as a matter of religious obligation but a means to promote peaceful living in a multicultural society.
According to him, “I felicitate with our Muslim brothers and sisters in Kogi State and across Nigeria on this day set aside to celebrate the birthday of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W).”
He encouraged Muslims to continue to eschew acts and behaviours that undermine the unity and progress of the society, just as the Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W) would, urging them to be good neighbours and enviable ambassadors of change.
He however, calls on the populace of Kogi State to continue rendering their supports and prayers to the Governor Yahaya Bello’s led administration in the State in order to get more dividends.
