2023 presidential campaign posters of the incumbent Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, were on Thursday displayed at some strategic streets of the Kano metropolis.
The campaign posters, which did not display any party logo, were adorned with Yahaya Bello’s pictures, with the inscription, ‘Mr Yahaya Bello for president in 2023,’ and ‘Yahaya Bello for generational change.’
According to findings, the Nigerian Youth Awareness group was behind the campaign to draft Bello into the 2023 presidential race.
Prominent among the streets where the campaign posters flooded are Murtala Mohammed Way, Airport Road and Sani Marshal Road in Kano.
The posters were also sighted on Race Course Road, Bompai Road and some adjoining streets to the Kano Government House.
Ekiti 2022: Campaign of calumny against me dead on arrival, Fayose counsels aspirants
Former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose has described campaigns of calumny by some aspirants, linking him with the All Progressives Congress (APC) national leader, Senator Bola Tinubu, as “dead on arrival,” pointing out that it will not guarantee anyone the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) governorship ticket.
The former governor who reiterated his endorsement of the immediate past PDP chairman in the State, Otunba Bisi Kolawole, declared that he owed no one no apology as he was convinced that he (Bisi Kolawole) has what it takes to win the election and govern Ekiti better.
In a statement on Friday, by his Spokesperson, Lere Olayinka, Fayose said those moving from house to house in Abuja, calling him names will by now be celebrating him and calling him “Saint Fayose” “if they were the ones supporting.”
The statement issued on Friday, read; “Linking me with APC and Tinubu in the desperation of some aspirants to clinch our party ticket, is dead on arrival.
“In and out of office, Nigerians can attest to my commitment to the PDP and opposition to the APC govt in defense of the ordinary Nigerians.
“We have seen sitting governors defecting to APC, but in and out of office, I remained steadfast with the PDP even in the face of undeserved harassments.
“When did visits and interactions of our political leaders across party lines become evidence of anti-party?
“As for the race for the PDP governorship ticket, I want to make it expressly clear once again that I have no apologies for supporting Bisi Kolawole.
“Those going from house to house in Abuja, looking for shortcuts to the governorship ticket should rather go back to Ekiti and seek support of the delegates who will decide the fate of our party’s aspirants.
“To our party stakeholders, whenever they come to you in Abuja with tales by moonlight about Fayose, let them be reminded that I am not an aspirant, but cannot be wished away. They should rather go back home and seek the necessary support as all politics is local. No shortcut!
“Eni ifa o to si lo npe ni haram (it is those who did not get the endorsement that are calling it haram).
“If they were the ones I endorsed, I will be ‘Saint Fayose.’
“I want to make it expressly clear once again that I stand with Otunba Bisi Kolawole, without apologies because he has what it takes to govern Ekiti and with the support of God and Ekiti people, he will surely win.”
Edo North PDP Stakeholders Describes Failed Harmonization As A funny attempt togain legality from illegality
The Concerned PDP stakeholders has alerted the the hierarchy over a purported directive by the Deputy Governor, Hon Phillip Shaibu, demanding a harmonization on the ratio of 70:30 of their Party Executive positions in Owan West LGA. In view of this, a meeting was already scheduled for 4pm, 20 November, 2021, at the residence of Hon Johnson Abolagba.
The Concerned Stakeholders wish to state clearly that as law abiding members of the great Party, PDP, whatever decision(s) to be taken in that meeting shall remain null, void and of no significance whatsoever as no one can gain legality from illegality.
The National body of their Party has made it clear that “All previous Congresses conducted prior to the last National Congress remain valid”.
Unless such a meeting is for the presumed appointments to be given to the LGA which they’re very free to share amongst themselves, whatever outcome is standing reality on its head.
“May we advise the Deputy Governor, Hon Johnson Abolagba and their co-travellers in the blind desperation to control the Party structure to learn to behave honorably and desist from further acts that runs contrary to our Party Constitution as they will never gain legality from illegality.
This matter is subjudice and those perpetuating contempt of the Judiciary would soon be made to face the full wrath of the law.”
APC youths Removes Buni-led caretaker committee Over Alleged Failure Among Others
……They Lacked Powers To sacked a Winning Team, Says APC CECPC Secretary.
The present leadership under Buni led Party’s Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC) has been described as monumental failure and disgrace parading as a party.
Youths of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), under the aegis of The Progressive Youth Movement, have said they had sacked the party’s Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC), led by Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni, for alleged failure, among others.
They announced the dissolution at the weekend, after their Northwest town hall meeting in Kaduna.
But the CECPC Secretary, Senator John James Akpanudoedehe, dismissed the allegations, saying the youths lacked the power to sack the party’s “winning team”.
The youths, rising from a meeting with the theme: Ready to Lead, Now or Never, alleged that the CECPC had not only failed to organise a national convention, after almost two years of its appointment, but had allegedly allowed the party to be hijacked by those they called criminals.
One of the conveners of the meeting and a former APC governorship aspirant in Kogi State, Prince Mustapha Audu, said the youths will constitute a new CECPC next week, which will hold an acceptable convention for the party in February 2022.
Responding yesterday in Abuja in a telephone interview Akpanudoedehe said: “…Anybody has the right to say their mind. But to say they have sacked the caretaker committee, they went too far. They don’t have such powers. You can only sack a losing team. You can’t sack a winning team, like this caretaker committee.
“Our youths are more productive, more intelligent, and resourceful. Why are they not being engaged? Why are they using them to do the bidding of some people? All these are about the presidential ambition of some politicians,” he said.
