The Managing Director, Kogi State Agricultural Development Project, Prince Bello Ogirima George has joined other citizens of the State to felicitate with Pharm. Abdulkareem Muhammed Jamiu Asuku on the celebration of his birthday.

In his felicitation message, Prince Ogirima George said witnessing another 365 days in a man’s life was worth celebrating, appreciating God for giving Kogites the gift of Pharm. Asuku.

The Treasurer, Kogi Local Government Area, Alhaji Abdullahi Yusuf Ohikura, has been conferred with a Chieftaincy title as the Mai Nasara (Daudu) of Gegu-Beki Chiefdom.

Alhaji Ohikura was turbanned at the celebration of the Two Years Anniversary of the Ohinoyi Nyiwo of Gegu-Beki Chiefdom, Alhaji Mohammed Abba Alhassan.

In an interview with Newsmen after the turbaning, the Mai Nasara of Gegu-Beki (Daudu), described the honour as a call for more responsibility.

Alhaji Ohikura pointed out that it was a rare privilege to be picked by the Royal Father for the Chieftaincy title and expressed gratitude to the traditional ruler and the people of the Community for the honour.

“I want to thank Almighty Allah for making this day a reality, I also want to appreciate His Royal Highness, for finding me worthy to be turbanned. I feel so honoured by this title as the Mai Nasara of Gegu-Beki Chiefdom”

The Kogi Local Government Council Treasurer said the joy of every true sons is seeing the development of their Community, calling on sons and daughters of Gegu-Beki, both at home and in the diaspora to rally round the traditional ruler and chart a way forward for the Area to witness more growth.

Alhaji Ohikura described HRH, Alhaji Mohammed Abba Alhassan, the Ohinoyi Nyiwo of Gegu-Beki Chiefdom, as a man chosen by God to reign at a period like this, and prayed for more of God’s wisdom upon him to serve the people of the Area successfully.

He noted that the two years of the reign of the 15th Ohinoyi Nyiwo of Gegu-Beki Chiefdom has brought good tidings to the Area, calling on the people to continue in their support to the traditional ruler.

Alhaji Ohikura, who is also the Matawale of Koton-Karfe, assured of his continued support to programs and activities that will bring about progress to the Area.

“This title conferred on me is a challenge, in the sense that I have to do the needful as a youth, not just a youth but a vibrant one. This is a call to continue to engage in positive ventures that will help move our Communities forward and I will continue to do that as Allah strengthens me”

The Onyiwo of Gegu-Beki chiefdom, in Kogi-Kotonkarfe Local Government Council of Kogi state, His Royal Highness (HRH) Alhaji Mohammed Abba Alhassan, has turbaned the chairman of Kogi state civil service commission, Barrister MohammedTanko Musa Osuku, with a traditional title as Gwarzo (Daudu) of Gegu-Beki chiefdom.

Among other personalities that were turbaned with traditional title, were Alhaji Abdullahi Yusuf Ohikura, as Mai Nasara (Daudu) Abdullahi Umar Gadafi, as Sarkin Yaki (Daudu) Alhaji Abubakar Ohikwo Zakari, as Asumehe – Owei (Daudu), Usman Abdullahi as Asamozie Owei (Kpakpataku) and others.

The Managing Director/ Chief Executive of Baka Oil, Alhaji Abdulrahman Muhammed, who was the chairman of the occasion, congratulated the Onyiwo of Gegu-Beki chiefdom for marking his second year anniversary on the throne.

He said the two years of monarch on throne has brought more unity, understanding, peaceful coexistence among not only the Egbira people, but all the ethnic groups across the chiefdom.

He called for sons and daughters of the chiefdom both at home and diaspora as well as top government and politicians to use their good various offices to provide employment for the youth of the area as for the chiefdom to move forward.

Alhaji Abdulrahman, also stressed on the need for both youth and women to go into business as well as learning hands/skills acquisition so that they become self reliance.

He appreciated the dignitaries that graced the event and recipients of the posthumous award, while calling all sons and daughters of the chiefdom to join hands together for the development of Gegu-Beki chiefdom and entire Igu-Kotonkarfe kingdom.

In his welcome address, the President of Gegu-Beki Youth Development Association, Alhaji Abubakar Musa, said the inception of the association 8 years ago, the association has impacted positively on the community in various endeavors.

He said the association has acted as pressure group and settlement of political crises between APC and PDP through the Onyiwo of Gegu-Beki palace, adding that the pressure group commended the State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello for the appointment of their own as commissioner of Solid Minerals, Hon. High Chief Engineer Mohammed Abubakar Bashir Gegu.

According to him, the association, through a philanthropist, late Alhaji AG Usman and others constructed new block of classroom and provided some learning materials such as desks, chairs for both primary and secondary schools in the area.

“And economically, having recognised the importance of economic empowerment of the people, the association has deemed it fit to encourage the youth on a skill acquisition especially in the area of hand work,” he said.

The Patron of Gegu-Beki Development Association, Dr. Yunusa S. Labaran, while presenting a paper at the occasion with the theme “People in Politics And Dividends of Democracy” ( A case study of Gegu-Beki And It’s Environs) said it may appeared mind boggling to some people since the occasion was not a political gathering.

He said he decided to choose the topic because of what people of the chiefdom has benefitted, saying politics also involved give and take.

He said people participating in politics must have such principles and proceses at the back of their minds, adding that those who have choosen to play and participate in politics in Gegu-Beki community and its environs required to be saluted from r their courage.

The Kogi state commissioner for Solid Minerals, Engineer Abubakar Bashir Gegu, described the two years of Onyiwo of Gegu-Beki chiefdom as a purposeful leadership, saying the two years of Onyiwo of Gegu-Beki has brought development, peace and unity across board.

On his part, the Onyiwo of Gegu-Beki chiefdom, Alhaji Mohammed Abba Alhassan, said the palace conferred some of the personalities who are sons daughters of the chiefdom with traditional title because of their immense contribution to development of the chiefdom.

The Chairman, Kogi State Civil Service Commission, Barr. Muhammed Tanko Musa Osuku, has been turbanned as the Gwarzo (Daudu) of Gegu-Beki, in Kogi Local Government Area of the State.

Speaking after his Turbaning, the Civil Service Commission Boss, appreciated the Ohinoyi Nyiwo of Gegu-Beki for finding him worthy of the Chieftaincy title.

Barr. Tanko pointed out that the honour came unexpected, and commended the Ohinoyi Nyiwo of Gegu-Beki Chiefdom for his fatherly role at ensuring continued peace in the Area.

“I feel very happy and thankful to God Almighty who has made it possible for me to be conferred with a Chieftaincy title as the Gwarzo of Gegu-Beki by the Ohinoyi Nyiwo of Gegu-Beki Chiefdom, Alhaji Mohammed Abba Alhassan. I count this as a rare privilege and I am not taking it for granted”

He noted that the Community has been witnessing unprecedented growth since the beginning of the reign of the 15th Ohinoyi Nyiwo of Gegu-Beki Chiefdom and prayed God to continue to help the traditional ruler achieve more for the people of the Area.

Barr. Tanko noted that the title conferred on him will serve as a morale booster, adding that he will double his efforts at contributing to the growth of the Community.

“I’ve been spurred to do more of those things I have been doing that made our traditional ruler to find me worthy of this honour. I will continue to uphold the practice of good performance in the areas of security, agriculture, education among others. ”

At his return to Koton-Karfe, the Gwarzo of Gegu-Beki (Daudu), in company of the Matawalle of Koton-Karfe, Alh. Ohikura, headed straight to the palace of the Ohimege-Igu of Koton-Karfe, Alh. Abdulrazaq Isa koto, where the Royal father received, blessed, and charged them to continue to make his kingdom proud and remain committed to the progress of the Area.
