Breaking: 62 Missing Onboard In Air Plane Indonesian May Have crashed Into The Sea – Rescuers

Missing Sriwijaya Air plane with 62 people on board which lost contact after taking off from Indonesia’s capital Jakarta on a domestic flight today is suspected to have been found.

Rescuers said suspected debris had been found in the sea off the city.

The Boeing 737-500, en route to Pontianak in West Kalimantan, disappeared from radar screens after taking off just after 2.30 p.m. (0730 GMT).

Indonesian Transport Minister Budi Karya told a news conference that 62 people had been aboard, including 12 crew. Another official had said earlier there were 56 passengers and six crew.

Bagus Puruhito, head of the country’s search and rescue agency Basarnas, said teams had been dispatched to search the waters north of Jakarta. No radio beacon signal had been detected, the agency said.

Agus Haryono, another official with the agency, told Reuters that debris suspected to be from the plane had been found in the sea, but it had not been confirmed that it came from the missing flight.

The newly appointed Secretary of Abaji Area Council, Hon Nasiru Sani, on Tuesday, recieved in audience the team of the Federal Government Conditional Cash Transfer for the households in the area in his office.

Earlier, the Desk Officer of the FG conditional cash transfer for the households in the area, Mohammed B. Isah, who led the team on courtesy visit, told the council secretary that they were in his office to congratulate him on his new appointment as the secretary of the council.

He informed the council secretary that, the team saw the need to also briefed him about the activities of the FGs conditional cash transfer, which he said been successful without any hitches since the programme started in 2019.

He disclosed that the conditional cash transfer scheme started with three political wards, which he said were Yaba, North/East and Rimba-Ebagi wards, saying Nuku-Sabon ward was later included after it was discovered that the scheme was going on smoothly without any hitches.

“Sir, and it would also interest you know that after Nuku-Sabon ward was included, we now proceeded to include Agyana- Pandagi ward, while Alu-Mamagi, Gurdi and the remaining other wards were later captured in the scheme, while the beneficiaries identity cards has been issued to them,” he said.

The desk officer, said though, those that were captured in the scheme have not started receiving the N5,000 conditional cash transfer, while he assured the team support to the new council secretary.

Responding, the council secretary, Hon Nasiru Sani, thanked the team for taking time of their tight scheduled to come and congratulate him for his appointment as secretary of the council.

He therefore, solicited for the team support and prayers in order for him and the council chairman, Hon Abdulrahman Ajiya, to succeed in piloting the affairs of the council.

FCT Minsiter Urges New FRSC Sector Commander On Advocacy, Enlightenment.

The FCT Minister, Muhammad Musa Bello, has charged the incoming new FCT sector commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, (FRSC), Mr Samuel Ogar Ochi, to ensure the enforcement of all traffic regulation on FCT roads and also embark on enlightenment and advocacy in the discharge of his duties.

Bello, gave the charge when he received the new FRSC Sector Commander in his office on Monday in Abuja.

“In the discharge of your duties, your keyword should be enforcement, enforcement, enforcement. After these three keys, you can go to the second one which is enlightenment and advocacy because so many people on the streets are driving vehicles without knowledge of traffic regulations”,he said.

He also urged Mr Ochi who had previously functioned as the Head of Operations of the FRSC in the FCT, to pay adequate attention to, and meet the traffic challenges along Airport Road, which he reminded the official is a 10 lane expressway comprising of numerous bus stops, pedestrian bridges, has several settlements bordering it and a major gateway into the city

The minister, while expressing confidence in the ability of the new Sector Commander to meet the challenges, also said that apart from the Airport Road, he should also focus on the Nnamdi Azikiwe Expressway.

“And starting all the way from the interchange junction, right through to the Apo Interchange, as well as the Aminu Kano Crescent in Wuse II. These are some of the areas in the city where you have the greatest concentration of traffic and also the greatest challenges”, the minister said.

He further urged Mr Ochi to ensure the commitment of the men and women to their jobs, while pledging the continuous support of the FCT administration to the FRSC in the discharge of its responsibilities in the FCT.

In his response, the new FRSC Sector commander, pledged to work hard to meet the challenges of ensuring road safety in the FCT, saying that he was already familiar with the demands of his assignment in the FCT.

He also commended the FCT Minister for the steps taken to improve traffic management in the Territory inclusive of restrictions placed on the operations of tricycles and commercial motorcycles as well as the construction of roads saying “you can now drive to Dutse as if you are within the city”.

FCT Natives Vows To Resist Attempt To Discredit Permanent Secretary, – Gabriel Aduda

Speaking earlier, the outgoing sector commander Mr Ayuba Gora Wobin, expressed his appreciation to the FCT Minister for all the support he enjoyed from the FCT Administration as the Sector Commander.

He said the job was challenging due to the constant influx of people into the FCT, even as he maintained that cooperation of officials of the FCT administration contributed to the successes he enjoyed.

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Muhammad Musa Bello Umar, has laid the foundation for a housing estate for the widows and orphans being constructed by Qatar Charity, a Qatari Non Governmental Organization (NGO) in Wasa District of Abuja.

According to a statement by the minister’s Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Anthony Ogunleye, the significance of the project was in the cordial and mutually beneficial relations that exist between Nigeria and the State of Qatar.

Country Director of Qatar Charity, Mr Hamdi Elsayed, was quoted in the statement as saying that the estate is being constructed on about 13 hectares of land and has a planned completion period of 12 months.

Mr Hamdi also revealed that benefitting widows and orphans will not own the houses allocated to them but will remain as occupants until such a time when they will no longer need them, in which case they will be allocated to other beneficiaries.
