Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State in South-East Nigeria has reacted to comments made by the Senator representing Kogi West, Smart Adeyemi, on the floor of the upper legislative chamber.

Adeyemi, while debating a motion on how to protect schools across the country on Monday, stated that while his State Governor, Yahaya Bello of Kogi State had awarded contracts for the renovation of schools, Abia is governed by drunkards.

The lawmaker went ahead to say that the Governor of Abia State is a “champagne drinking Governor”.

Reacting, Ikpeazu said if “Adeyemi was of sound mind, he should have known that when it comes to education, Abia is miles ahead of his home State of Kogi. Indeed, not just in education but in every single area of development.”

A statement signed by Ikpeazu’s Chief Press Secretary, Onyebuchi Ememanka, reads: “If Senator Adeyemi had his faculties intact, he should have known that under the watch of Governor Okezie Ikpeazu, Abia State has maintained first position in WAEC Examinations in the entire country for five years now. Kogi has not come close to the first 20. Never!”

“Ever since Dr. Ikpeazu became Governor in Abia State, there hasn’t been one single case of attack on any school anywhere in Abia State.

“Senator Smart Adeyemi is clearly non-compos mentis. If not, he would have known that while his State is still awarding contracts for the renovation of schools, Abia had long completed more than 500 classroom projects scattered across schools in Abia State, and still counting.

“It is obvious that Senator Adeyemi is battling with acute dementia and has lost every of his instincts as a journalist. If not, he would have known that just last week, the National Bureau of Statistics adjudged Abia State as No. 3 on the list of States that attracted foreign direct investments, with only Lagos and Abuja ahead of Abia State in the entire country.

“It takes much more than drinking champagne to guide a state from zero foreign investments to No. 3 in the country. Kogi State featured prominently on the list of states that attracted zero investments. It is only a state that is peaceful and secure that has the capacity to attract such cross border investments.

Some weeks ago, the National Center for Disease Control (NCDC) branded Kogi State unsafe for their consistent lip service to the Covid-19 pandemic. Senator Adeyemi was never heard to have either responded to that statement by the NCDC or raise it on the floor of the Senate. Yet, he has the effrontery, or rather, the buffoonery, to abuse a Governor whose state has maintained one of the lowest Covid-19 fatality rates in the country through proactive measures to protect our people.

“Between a Governor who has consistently denied the existence of Covid and the one who has put in place measures to protect his people, one wonders who is the drunkard.

Popular businesswoman and Kayanmata seller, Jaruma has reacted to reports which claim that Kanyamata is the reason for most divorce in the country.

According to Jarama, Kanyamata is meant to save not break the home as she blames the high divorce rate on cross-dressers.

“Kayanmata” which originated from the Northern part of Nigeria, refers to herbs or potions that act as sex or love enhancers for couples. The products have been trending on social media as the merchants openly advertise them and also post their clients’ “testimonies” on the efficacy.

In a video she shared on IG, Jaruma reacted to claims that single ladies who use Kayanmata are responsible for the high rate of divorce.

”News was all over town that the high rate of divorce has been linked and traced to Kaynmata because single girls are now buying Kayanmata and now taking away married men from their wives.

There is only one Kayanmata, the original from the North. Have you ever heard me say we are taking your husband away from you?  Have you ever heard me say we are coming to take your husbands away?

Original Hausa Kayanmata from the North, we are homemakers. We are not home breakers.

The high rate of divorce you are talking about can only be linked to crossdressers because crossdressers are the only ones who always say we are coming to take your husbands away.

Every single crossdresser in Nigeria, that is their motto.”

Controversial former Minister of aviation, Femi Fani Kayode has been dragged to the mud by his erstwhile wife Precious Chikwendu at the FCT High Court, Abuja seeking an order to compel Fani-Kayode to give her a monthly payment of N3.5 million for the upkeep of their four sons.

Precious Chikwendu, a former beauty queen and ex-wife of former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, has accused him of beating her up on several occasions even while she was pregnant

Chikwendu made the allegations in an affidavit she deposed to in support of an originating motion brought pursuant to Section 69 of the Child’s Rights Act, 2003 at the FCT High Court, Abuja.

In the court papers, the mother of four boys said she met Fani-Kayode in 2014 at the peak of her career and fell in love with him.

“From the early days of our relationship, the respondent (Fani-Kayode) has always maintained a lifestyle of utter disregard to my feelings. This was evident in the way and manner the respondent assaulted me while I was pregnant with our first son.

The respondent (Fani-Kayode) kicked me several times on my stomach over a petty argument that ensued. It was my friend, Vanessa, who was around at the material time that intervened at the nick of time to save me.

I had to leave the respondent’s (Fani-Kayode’s) house a few days after this incident. The respondent (Fani-Kayode) repeated the same act when I was pregnant with triplets, this time it was my mother and sister, Faith, that intervened”she stated

The former beauty queen alleged that on one occasion, the former Minister connived with a former Divisional Police Officer of the Asokoro Police Station to drug her.

She, however, said things soon turned sour between them as Fani-Kayode began exhibiting signs of paranoia. She alleged that the former minister accused her of infidelity and on several occasions locked her out of their home located on Aso Drive, Asokoro, Abuja.

“Sometime in 2018, in one of my attempts to leave the house with the children, the respondent (Fani-Kayode) in the company of the DPO of Asokoro Police Division, and her team of policemen handcuffed me and stripped me naked while someone from the crowd whom I initially mistook for a policeman forcefully injected me with a sedation.

That I was then abducted and incarcerated at a hospital for a period of two weeks. I was separated from my six-month-old triplets and a-year-old son at the time.” she said

Chikwendu, who alleged that the ex-minister had denied her access to her children for several months, asked the court to compel Fani-Kayode to give her a monthly payment of N3.5 million for the upkeep of their four sons.

She said the Former Minister currently spends N1.8 million on food, toiletries and others on the four children every month while N575,000 is spent monthly on clothing. She said Fani-Kayode had continued to deny her access to the children in order to compel her to return to the marriage.

Chikwendu seeks an order of the court “granting her custody of the four children to the applicant but with reasonable right of access to the respondent”.

FFK in a response filed by his counsel, Oluwafemi Popoola, said he had not been properly served with the court processes and hence, he could not respond appropriately.

The response in part reads

“Except there is service or proper service of the originating processes filed in this case on the respondent/applicant, this honourable court will lack jurisdiction to conduct further proceedings.”
