Police Nabs 3 Suspected Robbers For Attacking POS Shop In Kogi.

Kogi state Police command has arrested three persons suspected to be armed robbers at Ogidi on Ijumu local government area of the state.

A press release signed by the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO,), DSP William Aya, stated that the operatives of the Operation Puff Adder 11 in Iyara Divisional Police Office received a report of an attack by three armed men on a POS shop, snatching thousands of naira and inflicting injuries on the operator.

On receiving the report, men of the Operation Puff Adder swiftly swung into action and in collaboration with other security agencies and intelligence gathered from volunteers, the suspects were trailed to their hide out and arrested.

DSP Aya also disclosed that one single barrel gun and assorted phones were recovered from the suspected robbers and investigation into the incident has commenced.

He explained that the state Commissioner of Police, CP, Ede Ayuba Ekpeji had earlier directed all Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, operational and tactical Commanders as well as intelligence Officers to secure public places and guarantee a safe and secure environment for all.

The suspects will be arraigned in court on completion of the investigation.

The Commissioner of Police has reassured members of the public of the Command’s level of commitment in synergy with other security agencies in the state to ensure adequate protection of lives and properties.

He called on the public to always volunteer credible and timely information on the activities of criminal elements in the State.

Kidnapped Kogi Miyetti Allah Chairman Released By Security Men.

The allegedly kidnapped Chairman of the Kogi Chapter of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), Alhaji Wakili Damina, has been released.

Kogi state Secretary of the association, Mal. Adamu Abubakar told newsmen in Lokoja recently that Damina was released in Abuja late night of May 7, by men suspected to be from one of the security agencies.

“From Damina’s account, he was released by men suspected to be from one of the security agencies and not kidnappers as earlier suspected”. Adamu said.

He said that Damina arrived his Chikara home in Kogi Local Government area of the state in the early hours of Saturday to reunite with his family.

It would recalled that the Kogi state Secretary Adamu Abubakar told newsmen in Lokoja on May 4, that the Chairman of MACBAN, Damina, was taken away from his house by eight men dressed in military camouflage.

He added that the men forcefully took him away in a white bus, and that all efforts to get across to him proved abortive as his telephone lines were switched off.

However, the secretary, said that the national body of the association had taken the matter up to acertain why Damina was whisked away in such a manner.

He disclosed that though MACBAN had instructed a lawyer to take the matter up expressed the gratitude of the association to the state government, police, media and members of the public for their support and concern during the period.

Eid-el-Fitr: Kogi Police command ready, set for criminals.

Kogi State Police Command, has reiterated that its tempo in the fight against crime and criminality remains unequivocal and unwavering.

In his 2021 Eid el Fitr message and felicitation with the Muslims, the state Commissioner of Police, Ede Ayuba Ekpeji, assured the people of the state that adequate security measures has been put in place to ensure a hitch free celebrations.

The Sallah message which was contained in a press release signed by the command’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), William Aya (DSP) reiterates the Command’s level of preparedness in synergy with other security agencies in the State to ensure adequate protection of lives and properties during and after the celebrations.

According to the release, CP Ekpeji assured members of the public that the Command has made adequate deployment of its personnel across the State to secure public places and guarantee a safe and secure environment for all.

According to DSP Aya, the state Commissioner of Police also charged the Area Commanders, Tactical and operational Commanders as well as the Divisional Police Officers (DPO’s) to ensure a hitch free celebrations in their area of responsibilities.

He equally urged the law abiding members of the public to go about their lawful activities and warned all trouble makers to desist from any act capable of disrupting the existing peace the State is enjoying, warning that the Command will not hesitate to deal with any one caught committing any act of lawlessness in the State.

The Commissioner of Police therefore called on the members of the public to report suspicious objects, movements and activities around their neighborhood to the Police or any other security agencies in the State to enable prompt response to mitigate the act.

The Commissioner of Police therefore thanked the Kogi State Government under the leadership of His Excellency, Alhaji Yahay Bello, for his continue support and encouragement to the Police in the fight against crime and criminality in the State.

He also commended the traditional rulers as the custodians of culture for their roles in implementing the Community Policing Project in their various Communities. The FCT police commissioner, Bala Ciroma, has assured residents of the territory of their safety ahead of the of Eid-El-fitr (Sallah celebration.

Ciroma, who gave the assurance through a statement by the command spokesperson for FCT, ASP Maryam Yusuf, yesterday in Abuja, said such security arrangements was being made to ensure residents enjoyed hitch- free Sallah celebration.

The commissioner, however, disclosed that the command has deployed proactive measures within the city especially at strategic places such as recreational parks/centres, worship centres and major highways.
