Kidnapppers Abduct Female Teacher In Abuja, Demand N10m Ransom

Kidnappers have abducted a female teacher with the Government Secondary School (GSS), Kuje Abuja, Mrs Daramola Onyeaka Matina.

A family member of the victim, who preferred anonymity, said the incident happened in the early hours of Tuesday, when the kidnappers armed to teeth invaded the victims private residence at Shadadi community in the area.

He said the kidnappers, who invaded the house at about 12:34 am, forced the victims back door opened, after other gangs positioned themselves at strategic locations.

“When they came through the back door and used a sledged harmer and axe to destroyed the door, while others stood outside and surrounded the house and later whisked away at gun point,” he said.

He said the family has been able to established contact with her abductors and were demanding for N10 million ransom before she will be set free.

“Actually, a contact was established with her abductors late evening of Tuesday, and they were demanding for N10 million ransom, even though, negotiation is still ongoing,” he said

The Kuje branch secretary of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) Comrade Shamaki Nathan Magaji, confirmed the abduction of the female teacher through telephone interview with our reporter.

He said the branch has written to the state union about the kidnap incident.

The spokesperson of the FCT police command, ASP Maryam Yusuf, asked our reporter to send her text, in which she was yet to reply the message to confirm the kidnap incident as at the time of filling the report.

3 Killed Over Stolen Mobile Phone In Lokoja.

There was pandemonium on Monday in Felele, Lokoja, Kogi state capital as 3 persons were reported killed over stolen mobile phone.

An eye witness revealed that a thief who snatched a mobile phone stabbed his victim to death and while escaping sneaked into a shop where the innocent shop owner was mistaken for the thief and subsequently killed by a mob, while the suspect escaped.

In a reprisal, sympathisers of the late shop owner, identified one of his alleged killers, beat him to death and set the corpse ablaze, while some persons have been taken to the hospital following injuries they sustained during the clashes.

However, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in Kogi state, DSP William Aya, who confirmed the incident, said the command received a distress call from Felele at about 10 am on Monday, and on arrival at the scene discovered two dead bodies said to have been killed in a clash.

The PPRO explained that one Salisu Ado and Muhammad Mukaila all dead were alleged to have engaged in a fight over yet to be ascertained cause leading to their death.

He however stated that Muhammed Mukaila was alleged to have stabbed Salisu Ado to death, prompting a reprisal attack by his relations and sympathisers who equally killed Mukaila and set his corpse ablaze.

According to DSP Aya, two suspects Muhammed Mubarak and Suleiman Yakubu all believed to be members of Aro Barger cult have been arrested in connection to the killings.

Investigation into the matter has commenced as the state Commissioner of Police ordered the transfer of the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department .

The FCT police command have shot dead a suspected armed robber and recovered a double barrel pistol and three live Ammunition along Kubwa axis of FCT, Abuja.

A statement by the command spokesperson ASP Maryam Yusuf, said the suspect was in a gun duel with operatives from Kubwa division, in a foiled armed robbery attempt at a Hotel along Kubwa axis.

She said the operatives, who were on routine patrol engaged the robbers in a shoot-out, in which she said one of the suspects sustained serious gunshot injuries, was rushed to the hospital where doctor confirmed him dead.

She said exhibits also recovered from the late suspect included one silver Mazda space wagon and plate numbers, saying effort was ongoing to arrest other fleeing suspects.

She further said the police command has arrested a suspect, Danladi Abubakar, for culpable homicide along Kasuwa-Dere, Gwagwalada axis of Abuja.

According to her, the suspect was arrested acting on credible intelligence, the suspect was arrested by police detectives from Gwagwalada division for the gruesome murder of a yet to be identified middle-aged woman.

She said the suspect, who was identified by another victim confessed to being a member of a notorious phone snatching syndicate for operating along Gwagwalada axis, saying exhibits recovered included, one sharp knife and techno phone belonging to the late woman.

A female teacher at Government Secondary School (GSS) Kuje, Abuja, Mrs Daramola Onyeaka Matina, and her son, Isaac Oyeaka, who were abducted by Kidnappers have regained their freedom.

Global Times Nigeria, learnt that, the female teacher and her son were abducted by Kidnappers in the early hours of Tuesday, June, 9, 2021 around 12: 34 am at her residence in Shadadi community of the council.

A family member of the victims, who preferred anonymity, confirmed the release of the victims, saying they were released on Monday around 6:12 pm at a forest in neighboring community in Nasarawa state, after an undisclosed ransom was paid.

He told our through telephone that the victims were taken to an undisclosed hospital were they were undergoing medical checkup, even as he the victims were not maltreated or hurt by the abductors.

“We give glory to God as she and her son were released on Monday evening, after a ransom was paid even though I cannot disclosed the amount for security reasons,” he said

“When came through the back door and used a sledged harmer and axe to destroyed the door, while others stood outside and surrounded the house and later whisked away at gun point,” he said.

The Kuje branch secretary of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) Comrade Shamaki Nathan Magaji, confirmed the released of the victims even as he declined to speak further.
