By Sadiq Abubakar, Abuja.
The chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the FCT, Alhaji Abdulmalik Usman, said the party will abide by the court ruling which declared the Abaji chairmanship candidate, Alhaji Mohammed Angulu Loko, as a winner of the April 23, chairmanship primaries for the February 12, council election in the area.
Usman, stated this when the Abaji APC chapter executives led by the chairman, Alhaji Mohammed Haruna Yaba, presented the court judgment/ order to him at the state secretariat of the party in Abuja, on Friday.
He said APC-led administration under President Muhammadu Buhari, will always abide by the rule of law, while he recalled how the party won the governorship in Bayelsa and Zamfara and was upturned by the court.
“So the FCT APC state secretariat want to make it categorically clear that with this copy of a judgment and court order presented before us, the party has adopted Alhaji Mohammed Angulu Loko, as the chairmanship candidate for February 12, 2022, council election in Abaji area council,” he said.
He informed the Abaji chapter executives that arrangements are being put in place to embark on a tour across the six area councils with all the party leaders, which he said will be led by both ministers of FCT, Muhammad Musa Bello, and state minister, Hajiya Ramatu Tijjani Aliyu, to identify with the parties chairmanship candidates.
“And we will also be coming down to Abaji for the chairmanship campaign flag-off where I will present the flag to the FCT minister, Muhammad Musa Bello, where he will present the flag to the chairmanship candidate of our party,” he said.
The APC state chairman, therefore, urged party members and supporters that have not registered or who have misplaced their voter’s card should ensure they obtain another new voter ahead of the council election.
Earlier, the Abaji area council chapter chairman of the APC, Alhaji Mohammed Haruna Yaba, while presenting the court judgment and court to the APC stàte chairman, urged the state chairman to investigate two-state excos for engaging in anti-party activities in Abaji.
He also complained that some members of the party in Abaji, have been parading themselves as local government and wards executives that they were not constitutionally inaugurated.
Our correspondent report that the newly inaugurated mandate secretary for transportation, who is also the leader of the APC in FCT, Hon Zakari Angulu Dobi, state APC excos, and some APC stalwarts, members as well as supporters of the party were also present at the state secretariat.
It would be recalled that an FCT High Court sitting at Gudu district of Abuja, presided by Justice Adeniyi Esho, nullified the candidature of Abubakar Umar Abdullahi, as Chairmanship Candidate of APC in Abaji council election, following a suit filed by Alhaji Mohammed Angulu Loko, to challenge his substitution by the APC after he won the party’s primaries on April 23, 2021.
