The leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the FCT, Alhaji Zakari Angulu Dobi has been declared winner of the party’s senate primaries in the territory for the 2023 general election.
Chairman of the party’s electoral committee, Alhaji Lawal Yari, who made the declaration of the result at the end of primaries, which ended around 2:12 am on Sunday, at the Women Development Center in Abuja, said Alhaji Angulu Dobi scored the highest votes to defeat three other aspirants.
He said Alhaji Dobi scored 277 votes, Adedayo Benjamin, 28 votes, Alhaji Usman. Jibrin Wowo and Zaphaniya Jisalo, got one votes each respectively.
“And as the committee chairman of this primary for the FCT senate, I hereby declared Alhaji Zakari Angulu Dobi, who scored the highest number of votes as winner and is returned elected,” he said.
In his speech, Alhaji Zakari Angulu Dobi, commended the party’s delegates across the six area councils for voting for him, even as he pledged to work with his opponents that contested with him in other to ensure that APC emerge victorious during the general election.
He promised to ensure that the right of the good people of the FCT are protected if he is given the mandate to represent them at the national assembly in 2023 election.
Dobi, who was the immediate mandate secretary for Transport of the FCT administration, promised that he will not let the good people of the FCT down.
He said as a grassroots politician who has passed through all the stages of elections beginning as a councillor, he is fully prepared for the task ahead.
The FCT INEC Residents Electoral Commissioner (REC) Alhaji Yahaya Bello, who monitored the exercise, said he was satisfied with the entire process.

He said the primaries were conducted in line with the commission’s guidelines.
