2023: Chibuike Jonas’s governorship candidacy elicits hopes in Abia electorates

The emergence of Hon Chibuike Jonas as the governorship standard-bearer of the Action Democratic Party, (ADP) at the just concluded primary elections conducted by the leadership of the party in the State, has been given credence to the facts and resolved by the majority of the party members resolve dire Abia people that come 2023, it shall cease to be business as usual, wherein the destinies will no longer be mortgaged by those they democratically entrusted with their mandates, and in return cart away with their common wealths and taxpayer’s money at the wealth of their terms in office.

The Abia people who are the main electorates, affirmed that Hon Chibuike Jonas’s governorship bid on the platform of the ADP has given hope and rekindled confidence in them towards the actual confidence in an economically and Infrastructural stable Abia, where the citizenry will have access to developmental amenities to enhance their poor Standard of living, and which they attributed to, complete lack of capacities and templates by successive administrations who they entrusted with their mandates in all levels of political leadership of Abia state.

They resolved that come 2023, they must rewrite the narrative in governance of Abia state, as they con the continued grieved that since return of Nigeria to current democratic governance, successive governments in the affairs of Abia state have performed below expectations towards addressing myriads of challenges impeding the economic growths and Infrastructural development of the state which was created on August 27, 1991, by then Major General Badamosi Babaginda (IBB) led military government.

The electorates further maintained that the major dominant political parties such as the dominant Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and the main opposition All Progressives Congress, APC, in Abia state have failed every indices of democratic governance, as indices in the state are left to wallow in abject poverty, penury, hardship and starvation over obvious failure by their elected leaders, mostly in executive and legislative arms of government, to come up with the sound, productive and developmental polices, programmes and laws to enhances the state’s economy and infrastructures, and as well as, the rising insecurity in many parts of Abia state.

The electorates in Abia state also hinted that they shall queue up and rally supports behind queueing Democratic Party and its gubernatorial candidate in Abia state, Hon Chibuike Jonas, and regretted that the ruling and dominant political parties have lost dominant political for a better Abia state, structures on result-oriented policy formulation and implementation to raise the bar in human and Infrastructural development, which they also yearned for.

However, a cross-sect n of the Abia electorates with across-sectioned political party affiliations or backgrounds during an interview with our correspondent on Tuesday, reiterated that gone are that era they would be induced with monies during electioneering periods, and their futures mortgaged by disgruntled politicians in support of certain unprepared candidates seeking to be elected into government or political office and then carts away and siphoned taxpayers monies at the expiration of their tenures in offices, hinting that they would rally round, Hon Chibuike Jonas, to take Abia to greater heights and next level of genuine economic and Infrastructural development.

In an interview with our news Correspondent in Umuahia, on Tuesday, an Action Democratic Party chieftain from Abia State and the House of Representatives Standard bearer of the ADP for Ikwuano/Umuahia federal constituency seat of Abia state in the 2023 main elections, Chief Paul Meregini, opined that Chibuike Jonas has distinquished himself in several leadership capacities in his home state, Abia, and in the world of the private sector, and confided that the gubernatorial candidate has the wherewithal to provide the Abia people quality leadership which they are yearning for, as he added also that Jonas’s government when elected and supported, will be shrouded on basic infrastructural amenities, payment of salary arrears and pensions, facilitation of Investment Empowerment and Development scheme/programme where the youths, men and women will be gainfully engaged, in order to become self-productive and self-reliant, and provide shelter, and cater for themselves and their families daily needs; and as well as ensure functional and accessible healthcare delivery system, and map out workable security architecture to ensure the security of lives and properties of the populaces in the state.

The frontline Abia ADP main bearer for the National Assembly seat, submitted that Jonas’s administration when elected in 2023 would foster industrialization and improved mechanized agriculture, where local farmers will be empowered with necessary agricultural logistics and tools, to ensure food and security in Abia state, urging the electorates in Abia state to give their maximum, supports to the ADP governorship candidate, Hon Chibuike Okoroafor Jonas in the coming elections in the state, as Abia state would be given the human, economic and Infrastructural facelifts it needed, to enhance their welfares, growths, and development.

On his part, Mr. N,dudim Dede, a civil servant in Abia. state, said that the average majority of Abia electorates are confident that Mazi Chibuike Jonas would rewrite the narrative in the governance of Abia state, and would properly utilized his vast wealth of experience to give Abia facelifts when elected come 2023, having demonstrated leadership acumen, charisma, and capacity as then elected executive chairman of Arochukwu Local Government Area of Abia state.

He affirmed that Jona has played impactful roles in both public and private sector-driven affairs towards the collective efforts of all meaning people of Abia in actual well-meaning able economic development in the state.

His words: “I am confident Hon Chibuike Jonas will bring useful economic and Infrastructural projects deepen empowerment of the people, and to also development scheme Programmes, that development the Abia youths, men and women”.

Before now, the Abia ADP Gubernatorial candidate, Hon Chibuike Okoroafor Jonas had served as elected Executive Chairman of Arochukwu Local Government Area Council of Abia state in January 2008.

Recall earlier that eighteen (18) months Hon Chibuike Jon for held sway as the Local Government Area’s boss. His tenure has been described by many as the best in the council’s history because of the unprecedented developments his administration achieved.

He is currently seeking to be elected into the Umuahia Government House in 2023 as next Governor of Abia State, and will also jostle for the seat of Abia governor, with Peoples Democratic Party gubernatorial Candidate, Professor Uche Ikonne, All Progressive Congress Standard-bearer, Dr Uche Sampson Ogah, Candidate of the.
