2023: Chief Onoja will unite, Secure Kogi, Guarantee more development if elected Governor — Kogi Youth Agenda

Ahead of the 2023 Kogi State governorship elections, the youth coalition under the auspices Kogi Youth Agenda and drive for good governance with membership cut across 9 federal constituencies in the State have declared support for the governorship ambition of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the State, Chief David Edward Onoja, saying he has been adopted as their sole candidate.

The group who converged on the Karomsi Hotel Lokoja, Kogi State capital under it’s President, Comrade AK Saliu assured the State Deputy Governor and now governorship aspirant of their commitment and unflinching support, noting that they have rejected other political parties to work for APC following pragmatic leadership, unity of purpose and impeccable qualities and capacity of Chief Onoja, hoping and praying that God will crown him with the governorship position.

President AK Saliu said the forum is a body that cut across different political parties, professional bodies and pressure group, adding that 9 federal constituencies were represented in their platform

According to him, the opposition parties had never worked for the progress of the State even when some of their members ran for elections on their platforms, and on this note we are calling on the leadership of APC to present Chief David Edward Onoja who command respect among the young and old irrespective of religion and tribal consideration.

He appreciated Governor Yahaya Bello for running an inclusive policy, where he gave his siemens brother and incumbent Deputy Governor an opportunity to serve right from his first tenure as Chief of State to his present status.

We want to equally appreciate Governor Yahaya Bello for considering the larger youthful and women society into his kitchen cabinet.

“You have shown us that you value Chief David Edward Onoja through your appointments and support you gave him from onset. ”

“We want to bring this to your notice that Chief Onoja is the only governorship aspirant Kogi people knows. We want to assure you we are with him. We will campaign for him and ensure his victory,” he added.

“This particular group which cut across the 21 LGAs of Kogi State was founded on a sole agenda of supporting the aspiration of His Excellency, Chief David Edward Onoja for Lugard House.”

“Our choice for Onoja is predicated on numerous feats recorded under the new direction government led by Governor Yahaya Bello and whereas Chief Onoja performed credibly from his first position as Chief of Staff to present position”.

Speaking earlier, Chief John Salifu, a Director in the Kogi State Internal Revenue Service, IRS, while expressing confidence that the election will be a walkover for Chief David Edward Onoja considering his impact, loyalty, and sacrifice he made through his unalloyed support to his principal.

Salihu noted that the people of Kogi were eagerly looking forward to who will consolidate on development and infrastructure Governor Yahaya Bello’s deliver to the state in the last 7 years.

He described Chief Onoja as very best administrator who will always be there to give all his support to his principal and hence to rally round him for more to be achieved.

“All the people who purchased forms to contest elections were qualified and has the pedigree but the truth must be told that Onoja is the best among the best in this struggle.”

In their separate speeches,
Mr Femi Olukato, kogi west Comrade Yahaya Bello, Kogi Central and Comrade Alex Sandra representing Kogi East, said they could vouch for Onoja’s competence and capacity to deliver the much anticipated good governance when he wins.

They further noted that Kogi people people believe in unity, progress, and the only political party that represents progress is APC. They therefore pledged that they will move round to harness votes from APC delegates for Chief Onoja.

Other speakers who spoke at the event said the inauguration of foot soldiers was to inform Onoja of their unwavering support, commitment and dedication to the project, adding that his victory had already been won and sealed by the overwhelming support from members of the public.

They further stressed that Onoja possesses the qualities and character that will transform the state.

“We have our foot soldiers here and they are ready to do the job. This event was organised to make a categorical statement. We have the intrinsic knowledge of what you can do because you have the qualities to deliver,” he said.”

Global Times Nigeria reports that the event showcased formal inauguration of senatorial district, LGAs and wards executive members with a pledged to go round the nooks and crannies to liaise with delegates to aid their victory.

While Barr. Abubakar Muhammed from A.O Musa and Co administer the oath of allegiance to the newly inaugurated executive members of youth agenda.

The forum also presented some electoral materials as part of effort to show their commitment in the struggle and as well aid his victory.
