2023 Guber: APC Candidate, Uche Ogah outlines plans to address poverty rate among Abia populaces.

The Abia Governorship standard-bearer of the All Progressives Congress for the coming 2023 main elections, Dr Uchechukwu Sampson Ogah, has outlined plans to pull out the Abia people from abject poverty when elected as the governor of the state.

He maintained that the state must strive to increase her Gross National Income per capital, and boowst Gross Domestic Product per capital and improve massively on our trade imbalances at least in relation with other economies of southeast region and indeed, entire nation. K

Ogah who was the immediate past Minister of State for Mines and Steel Development, in a statement on Monday, on the heels of the 2023 general elections across the 36 states of the Nigeria federation, by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), stressed that Abia must aggressively pursue her regional integration and cooperation agenda in order to begin the process of improving the lives of the people and transforming Abia state from a rural agrarian disposition and cuing her on the trajectory of sustained development while listing her among wealthy states in Nigeria.

“As we’re already blessed with an enterprising people in the seventeen LGAs of the state and a huge commercial centre in Aba, it is imperative that we would now go ahead to develop other adjoining areas to serve as hubs in predetermined economic activities not only for the benefit of Abia State but the entire South East region of Nigeria and beyond”.

“If Abia State can take the lead in instigating an economic outlook for the South East region of the country, we would derive alot of benefits ranging from incremental production capacity, economic diversification and growth, job creation and above all, poverty reduction which would have a ripple effect on other states of the South East,”he posited.

Continuing, Ogah who doubled as Doyen of Abia Rejoice explained that, the idea behind this regional integration and cooperation agenda is to initiate a wide variety of forms of collaboration within the region that would entail symbiotic policies and regulatory frameworks which would in turn create joint institutions, formal/informal partnerships and embark on joint projects to build common infrastructure which would among other things see to the establishment of highly developed transportation modes within the zone such as rail transport and alternative highways to cut travel times between production or service or raw material hubs in the region among other several projects that would boost the economic metrics of the region with Abia State as a base.

The leading Abia gubernatorial candidate, maintained that his blueprint is designed to revamp the state’s economy, regional cooperation and integration key value proposition that would contribute in gifting Abia state that required quantum leap the citizens envisaged when he’s elected into office as serving governor of the state in 2023.
