2023 Guber election: Alex Otti’s victory heralds an end of a bad regime—Accord Party, Emeka Nwankpa declares

The Accord Party candidate in the just concluded march 18th 2023 governorship election in Abia state, Ambassador Emeka Nwankpa, on Friday, reacted to the recent outcome of the just concluded 2023 gubernatorial election held in the state by the independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Recall that the recently inducted Abia governorship seat election saw the emergence of labour party candidate, Alex Otti emerged as the new Governor-elect of the state and winner of the just concluded election after polling a total of 175, 467 votes cast to beat his closest rival and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Okey Ahiwe, who scored 88,529 votes to come second position at the concluded poll on Wednesday.

Earlier, while reacting through a statement issued on Thursday in Umuahia, the state capital, Bishop Nwankpa saluted the dodgedness and determination of people of the state in electing Alex Otti as the next Abia governor

He also applauded the consistency and determination of the labour Party gubernatorial flagbearer, Alex Otti leading to his sounding victory at the recently-conducted exercise in Abia state.

Nwankpa described Otti’s emergence as the new Governor-elect of Abia state as the beginning of Abia liberation.

His words: “I’m particularly happy that God has answered the prayers of the people of Abia state.

“I contested the election to see the liberation. Though, Alex Otti was one of my opponents, I’m happy that through him, God has taken us away from the hands of the wicked PDP.

“This victory heralds the end of a bad regime, and ushers in a new era”.

Asked also on his expectations from the incoming Government to be presided by Dr Alex Chioma Otti when inaugurated in May 29th 2023, Bishop Emeka Nwankpa reminded the new Governor-elect on the onerous task to rebuild Abia state and address myraids of challenges bedeviling her.

“To whom much is given, much is expected. The people of Abia state expect Otti to address myriads of problems facing state”, he further stated.

The frontline party chieftain expressed hope the new Abia Governor-elect, Alex Otti will live up to the expectations and yearnings of the Abia people which among others includes, improved education system and healthcare delivery systems, enhanced infrastructural development projects, effective security architecture, building of massive rural and urbanized roads, accessible motorable, improved sporting system, building of hospitals and health centres in major cities of the state and local areas.

According to the Accord party flagbearer, “It is hope that he will rise up to the challenge. If he doesn’t perform,the people of Abia state will vote him out in 2027”.
