2023 Guber poll: Alex Otti’s election as Governor-elect a new journey to liberating Abia—-Bishop Onuoha declares

The main Gubernatorial flagbearer of African Democratic Congress (ADC) at the just-concluded 2023 governorship election in Abia state, Bishop Sunday Ndukwo Onuoha, has sent message to the winner and the labour party Gubernatorial candidate, Alex Otti, on his emergence as the Governor-elect of the state after a keenly contested poll by the Independent National Electoral Commission.

Our correspondent reported that Otti polled a total of 175, 467 votes cast to beat his closest rival and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Okey Ahiwe, who scored 88,529 votes to come second position at the concluded poll on Wednesday.

The INEC Returning Officer for Abia State, Professor Nnenna Oti announced the winner after collation of results of the governorship election from the last local government area, Obingwa.

Earlier, Bishop Onuigbo, while baring his mind in a statement on Friday, on the backdrops of the recently-conducted march 18th 2023 gubernatorial election in Abia state, opined the outcome of the poll was a clear indication that Abia people truly yearned for change in the state political leadership, and also are expectant of a difference.

He described the emergence of the Labour Party standard-bearer, Alex Otti as the new Governor-elect of Abia state as a victory for all irrespective of political affiliations.

Words: “the wave of votes at the presidential elections on the 25th of February, 2023, says as much, albeit resoundingly, a pointer that politics today is titling towards meritocracy and not godfatherism.

“Having you declared winner from the results of the election on Saturday, 18th March, and ended 22nd March, my birthday; is a befitting birthday gift to me, and a fulfillment of my wishes for a news of governance for ndi-Abia”.

Continuing, Onuoha expressed confidence in the ability of the Abia Governor-elect, Alex Otti to address numerous challenges in the best interest of the state.

“I wish you success in this exalted office, as you hit the ground running in the daunting task ahead.

“May your renowned professional acumen not be eclipsed by personal aggrandisement.

“I am confident that you have the best interest of Abia state at heart as you put the interest of our state first in all your action”.

He further assured Otti of his full support as his brother and friend on this new journey to liberating Abia.

“I look forward to working with you on this collective objective”.

While further congratulating Otti on his victory at the concluded gubernatorial election in Abia state, Bishop Onuoha wished the new Abia Governor-elect as success, God’s wisdom, strength, direction and guidance to deliver on his as people of the anticipate a positive difference in every facets of state’s economy and Infrastructure for their good.

He partly stated: “we anticipate that there will be a positive difference seen and felt across Abia anyi, and that you will create an environment of inclusiveness and steadfastness.

“On behalf of the leadership, members of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, Abia state, and my family, i congratulate on your emergence as the Governor-elect of Abia state in the just concluded governorship elections held on Saturday 18th March, 2023 under the platform of the Labour Party (LP).
