2023 Guber polls: APGA Candidate, Greg Ibe slams party vice chairman, Okeiyi on claims of being responsible for party’s poor outing in Abia

Gregory Ibe, the All Progressives Grand Alliance Gubernatorial candidate (APGA) at the just-concluded 2023 general elections in Abia state, has spoken on the claim by aggrieved party members, attributing his purported refusal to release funds to the state working committee of APGA as the reason for the perceived unimpressive performance at the recently-conducted elections in the state.
The party chieftain also dismissed the purported N60 million fraud by some members of the state working committee of the All Progressive Grand Alliance as alleged by the party vice chairman for Abia central Senatorial zone, Ambassador Chigorom Okeiyi.
He was speaking against the backdrops of the viral online reports which credited Mr Okeiyi, as blaming him over the party’s recent poor performance at the conducted governorship poll in Abia state by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
It was gathered that Okeiyi had hinged the alleged refusal by the Abia APGA gubernatorial candidate, Greg Ibe, to release funds to the party state working committee chaired by Rev Augustine Ehiemere, to prosecute electioneering campaigns and pay party agents who manned various polling booths in local electoral wards in Abia state during the polls as the major reason APGA failed woefully in the just-concluded state election held on 18th of March, 2023
Also recalls the labour party gubernatorial candidate and former bank chief, Alex Otti polled a total of 175, 467 votes cast to beat his closest rival and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Okey Ahiwe, who scored 88,529 votes to come second in the just concluded state elections
The flagbearer of the Young Progressive Party(YPP), Enyinnaya Nwafor came a distant third with 28,972 votes while Mr Ikechi Emenike, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), scored a total of 24,091 votes to gain a fourth place.
Earlier, Professor Ibe, the chancellor and Proprietor of Gregory University Uturu,(GUU), Abia state, while reacting through a statement issued by the Director, Media and Publicity of his campaign organization, Sleek Ogwo, described the insinuation of an imagined refusal by him to release campaign funds to the party in Abia state, as a figment of the warped and drug induced imagination of Chigorom Okeiyi as since all necessary financial and logistic support was made available for prosecution of the election.
He partly stated, “in the spirit of first removing the log in a person’s eye before attempting to help another extract a speck from his eye, Amb Okeiyi should abinitio, confess the distractive and destructive role played by his megalomaniac principal aided by the PDP, which has been widely adjudged as the greatest disservice that contributed in no small measure to the dwindling fortunes of APGA”.
Ibe warned Chigorom Okeiyi to leave him out of his quest to become the state chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance and the current petty squabbles between the latter and some party officials which according to him, is reaching feverish pitch because of the approaching party congresses.
While also describing Okeiyi as a rudderless and misguided puppet in the hands of a deranged lunatic desperately needing psycho therapy, Ibe urged the public to discontinuance the uncoordinated rambling of Chigorom Okeiyi who is a puppet that is tied to a string, and held by an egocentric, masquerading as a saviour of the world.
He further used the medium to reiterate a healthy working relationship with Ehiemere-led Abia State working committee of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, which according to him, was built on trust and mutual respect.
