2023 Gubernatorial elections: Ogah unveils plan to address Infrastructural decadence in Abia.
The frontline Governorship main-bearer of the All Progressives Congress in Abia State, Dr Uche Ogah, has regretted that those entrusted with the mandate of the Abia people have failed to address the infrastructure decadence of the state, which he attributed to lack of altruistic and futuristic leadership.
He promised to foster the needed change in the scheme of things in the state, in order to unleash the trapped humongous potential of our people.
Ogah stated this while revealing his plans for Abia’s economic and Infrastructural development when elected as state governor in 2023, which contained in a statement issued on Thursday, assured that his administration shall from the first day in office commence the application of our policy document to change instituted systems that have held the nation backward as a people.
His words: “It is readily observable that critical infrastructure is non-existent in Abia State and this is perpetuated by the lack of altruistic and futuristic leadership.
“It saddens me wherever i ponder on the situation of things within Abia and at the same time, i am charged within my mind to bring about a change in the scheme of things in order to unleash the trapped humongous potential of our people”.
DAILY POST recalls that Ogah had emerged as the Abia gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress at the end of a keenly contested and concluded gubernatorial primary elections conducted by the party’s leadership which took place on 26 May 2022 in Umuahia, the state capital.
Ogah had scored 141,952 votes to beat his closest rival, Paul Ikonne who scored 27,054. Other gubernatorial aspirants includes, Chief Ikechi Emenike who polled 9,446, Emeka Atuma with 7,429, Obinna Oriaku with 5,553, Alex Otti scored 2,41, and Daniel Eke who got 1,953 at the keenly contested direct primaries.
This was announced by the Returning Officer of the concluded Abia APC gubernatorial primaries held in Umuahia, the state capital, Barrister Perfect Okorie.
However, while continuing in the statement, Dr Ogah who was the immediate past Minister of State for Mines and Steel Development, on Thursday, assured that his administration shall introduce our multi-sectoral approach to stimulate food security, alter our transport system, completely change the face of the state capital, Umuahia, with functional and aesthetically pleasing Infrastructure, put in place a machinery to ensure our public spaces are profusely lush and upholds societal well-being while would ensure adequate security through operationalization of our local security architecture to annihilate identified threats to the peace of Abians.
The APC guber candidate partly stated, “i understand the necessity of endowing critical infrastructure within a society just as in all entirety, i am aware of the multiple effects such critical infrastructures will cause within our state.
“As someone whose Professional background and occupation cuts across finance, investment, entrepreneurship and economics, i know too well what is required to bring a paradigm shift and radical growth in the critical infrastructure of our state.”.
