Dr Uche Ogah, the 2023 governorship standard candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Abia State, has dismissed fake news reports circulating through online media blogs and newspapers of a purported meeting between him and the national chairman of the APC, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, wherein it was credited to party national chairman to have asked him to work with a known usurper to ensure victory for APC in the forthcoming 2023 general election in Abia State.

Dr Ogah, in a worded statement issued to journalists in Umuahia by the media directorate of Abia Rejoice Movement, his political campaign structure on Wednesday, noted that the information was nothing further than the truth with regard to any meetings between him and Senator Adamu on any level with regard to discussions on the political happenstance within the party

According to the statements, “such news as has been put out, are definitely by sponsored disgruntled elements and traducers whose Interest were to ensure APC does not participate in the forthcoming gubernatorial elections in Abia state, insisting that they must be challenged to bring their antics to a complete halt.

“Any meetings between the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress and a former minister of state of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressive Congress, Dr Uchechukwu Sampson Ogah will definitely be communicated to those with the rightful clearance on a Need-to-Know basis and will also be communicated to members of the press in accordance to dictates of democratic principles.

The statement further reiterated that Dr Uche Sampson Ogah never met with the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Senator Abdullahi Adamu to discuss anything regarding the forthcoming gubernatorial elections in Abia state and certainly not in the last one month.

It would be recalled earlier that Uche Ogah was declared the winner of the just concluded gubernatorial primary elections conducted on 26th May 2022, by the party leadership across the 184 electoral wards of the seventeen local government areas of Abia state.

The former minister, had scored 141,952 votes to beat his closest rival, Paul Ikonne who scored 27,054.

Other gubernatorial aspirants includes, Chief Ikechi Emenike who polled 9,446, Emeka Atuma with 7,429, Obinna Oriaku with 5,553, Alex Otti scored 2,41, and Daniel Eke who got 1,953 at the keenly contested direct primaries.

This was announced by the Returning Officer of the concluded Abia APC gubernatorial primaries held in Umuahia, the state capital, Barrister Perfect Okorie.
