Governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Delta State, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, has again reaffirmed that his M.O.R.E agenda will be implemented to the last letter, if elected governor in 2023, saying that his ultimate desire is to serve the people and serve them without blemish.
He re-echoed his firm promise at PDP Ward to Ward campaigns in Ughelli North Local Government Area on Tuesday, saying that meaningful development, opportunity for all, realistic reforms and enhanced peace and security, M.O.R.E, remained an integral part of his social contract with the good people, describing it as a deliberate effort to ensure sustained good governance and equitable distribution of dividends of democracy in the state.
Oborevwori, who is also the Speaker of Delta State House of Assembly for more than five years and counting, disclosed that the productive sectors of the state economy; investment friendly policies that would attract direct foreign investments and facilitate industrialization, human capacity building and empowerment of youth, girl child, women and care for widows and senior citizens shall be given priority, well funded subject to availability of resources, and will be sustained under the M.O.R.E agenda, from 2023-2031.
He assured that his policies and programmes as encapsulated in the M.O.R.E blueprint, shall build on the achievements and successes of the incumbent governor, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, so as to take more people from the labour market, produce new set of vibrant and innovative entrerprenuers and millionaires in the state within reasonable period.
The Delta PDP governorship candidate and Deputy Chairman, Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures of Nigeria, appealed to all eligible voters in Ughelli North LGA to vote Atiku-Okowa for President, Sheriff-Onyeme for Governor, Chief Ighoyota Amori for Senate and all other candidates of the party across board, adding that Atiku-Okowa candidacy will attract uncommon development to the state and across Nigeria, which is why Deltans must of a necessity vote enmass for PDP in the 2023 presidential election.
At Agbarha-Otor, the member representing the good people of Ughelli North Constituency One, Hon Barr. Charles Oniyere, led over 1,000 members of the All Progressives Congress, APC, to PDP. The decampees were assembled from various communities in the constituency, including Emonu-Orogun Community, the hometown and political base of the Deputy Senate President and governorship candidate of APC in the state.
The state lawmaker said he and his teeming supporters and party members were deceived to join APC some years ago, only to discover later that the party does not mean well for Deltans and Nigerians, as can be seen from the vexed mismanagement of the robust economy it inherited from PDP in 2015, as against the present level of collapsed, retrogressive and moribund economy, acute poverty, hunger, joblessness, high inflation, bad roads, regular hike in pump price of petrol and electricity tariff, needless bloodshed across Nigeria, kidnapping and frightening insecurity, as well as the mismanaged health and education sectors, et al.
Receiving the decampees, Delta PDP Chairman, Olorogun Barr Kingsley Esiso, said APC and it’s leaders were not kind to Nigeria, describing the moribund Nigeria economy and abysmal performance of the APC national government under the leadership of President Muhmmadu Buhari and Alhaji Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, as shameful, unpatriotic, unbearable, unacceptable and a total disservice to Nigeria and Nigerians.
He said no sane Nigeria would identify with the APC party, saying that a sick country cannot be handed over to a sick man to further compound the multifaceted socioeconomic and insecurity problems bedeviling our nation, pointing out that the APC presidential candidate, Alhaji Bola Tinubu, is obviously incapacitated, sick and cannot therefore be president over a sick country, Nigeria.
Esiso, while welcoming the new members to the party, assured PDP Presidential Candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and his running mate, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, are in excellent health conditions, tested and trusted leaders with reasonable wealth of experience and very competent to reset Nigeria and solved all the multiplicity of socioeconomic, infrastructure and insecurity problems imposed on Nigeria and Nigerians by the failed APC national government.
He assured the decampees that PDP’s umbrella will provide the needed royal covering and dividends of democracy for all, adding that a member of PDP is an automatic full time beneficiary of good governance and entitled to all rights and priviledges.
Esiso appealed to all eligible voters in Delta State to vote PDP 5/5 in the forthcoming general elections, saying that Atiku-Okowa will work hard to restore the lost glory of Nigeria and make her great again, while urging Nigerians to treat APC as their common enemy for making life extremely difficult for them and their families in the past seven years plus and still counting.
At Orogun-Emonu, the home town of Senator Agege, the turnout of party members and supporters was massive. Speaker after Speaker berated DSP Agege for over dramatizing audio federal projects that may never see the light of day, because there are no signs on ground to show that the so-called federal projects will be executed and commissioned before the end of Buhari failed administration due to terminate in less than seven months time.
Candidate of PDP in Ughelli North Constituency One, Mr Jimmy Elijah, said all the roads, schools and other executed and ongoing projects in Ughelli North Local Government Area, including Agbarha and Orogun communities were executed by PDP from 1999 till date and counting.
He disclosed that the numerous roads linking various Orogun communities and to DSP Agege country home, were built and/or constructed by PDP successive administrations in the state, which is why the good people of the LGA shall vote overwhelmingly for PDP, 5/5 bloc vote in 2023.
He said DSP Agege tenure in the red chamber meant nothing to Orogun people, because of his greed and nepotic tendencies of focusing mainly on himself, immediate family members and his tiny local environment to the detriment and marginalization of majority of the communities and the vast majority of the people in Delta Central Senatorial District.
Jimmy assured that PDP shall sweep the polls in Ughelli North LGA including Agege’s polling unit, on the ground that to whom much is given, much is obviously expected.
