A former Governor of Imo State, Senator Rochas Okorocha, is optimistic that Nigeria can turn her fortunes for good in the days ahead.
Senator Okorocha gave the assurance in Abuja while addressing Pressmen on the sideline of the upcoming Presidential Election in 2023.
He said Nigeria’s myriad of problems may seem unsurmountable because of her lean resources, but optimistic that with round peg in a round hole, things will change for good in the Country.
The former governor, who is currently representing Imo West Senatorial District in the National Assembly, noted that the world may have tagged Nigeria negatively in various ways, but believes that Nigeria will be great again.
“Nigeria is a great and blessed Country which will change with time to become a producing Country rather than a consuming Nation
“If traditional rulers had been given their place in the scheme of things, banditry and Crimes would have been nipped in the bud as the traditional institution remains the chief security of any Community”
Senator Okorocha noted that youths are the bedrock of any administration which if trained properly especially in technology, will stem the tide of migration in search of greener pastures.
He reminded women that they have extra responsibility to cater for their families and as such, needed to become financially independent to end what he tagged “Country Imposed Crimes” and create a Nigeria without poverty.
According to him, Nigeria is in dire need of a leader who will help the poor and needy, a promoter of national unity and one who can give free education from primary education to secondary school, adding that about 14.5 million Nigeria children are presently out of school.
He appreciated the labour of Nigeria heroes of the past, promising that their labour will never be in vain.
While declaring his intention to Contest for the Presidential seat in 2023, Senator Okorocha noted that his coming is to build on what has already been laid down by other administrations and improve on them.
The presidential aspirant who promised new Nigeria said the days of “monkey dey work baboon dey chop” is over, stressing that poor management of scarce resources was another problem affecting the growth of Nigeria.
He said his administration will take away hunger which is the biggest challenge of the citizens of the Country, urging the people to permit him to run the affairs of the Nation come 2023.
