Former State Publicity Secretary of the All Progressive Congress and chieftain of the Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Mazi Jones Onwusoanya, has lampooned on former Lagos Governor and presidential aspirant on the platform of the APC, Bola Tinubu, over comment on President Muhammadu Buhari’s presidency.

Our correspondent reported that Tinubu, had on Thursday, claimed that without his support, President Muhammadu Buhari would not have won the 2015 election

Speaking in Ogun State, Tinubu said, “if not me that led the war from the front, Buhari would not have emerged as the president. He contested first, second and third times, but lost. He even said on television that he won’t contest again,” he said.

Reacting to the Tinubu’s assertion, Onwusoanya, who doubled as acting national leader of Ohanaeze youth wing, in a statement issued to newsmen on Friday, warned the electorates against electing Tinubu, and the presidential candidate of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, as President of Nigeria in 2023, positing that the duo would only work to protect corrupt interests, as they cannot bring new idea to the table for Nigeria’s survival.

According to the Igbo chieftain, “Tinubu is about the most dangerous person to elect as Nigeria’s President, followed by Atiku Abubakar. These individuals are among the major destroyers of Nigeria. Tinubu believes, it is his entitlement to become Nigeria’s President. He doesn’t feel he owes any allegiance to anyone else, not to the ordinary Nigerians. He doesn’t have new ideas to bring to the table. His campaign is hinged on how many people he had allegedly “helped” to power. He has hardly told us what he has done for Nigerians that should qualify him as our President.

“If Tinubu had the slightest scruples, he wouldn’t have been proud to count his contribution to bringing Buhari to power. That he brought Buhari upon us, is enough to disqualify him from seeking public office at any level in this country, talk less of becoming our Commander-in-Chief. By his own confession, he has a very poor sense of judgement and he is only interested in his personal political convenience rather than taking actions in the best of Nigerians.

Continuing, he added, “with all the dangers his candidature portends, laid bare, you would be naive to think that APC delegates or Nigerians will reject him. Nigerians don’t care about those things. To them, such considerations are too academic to influence their choice of who leads them. We are our own problems.

Onwusoanya also reiterated that Tinubu does not believe in Nigeria and would have his own way because the required money and reach to put most of the delegates for the APC presidential primary election in his pocket.

: “Make no mistake about it. Leave the field clear of Buhari’s interference, Tinubu will beat every other aspirant to the APC presidential ticket, easily. This is not because any of these delegates would risk having a Tinubu as the manager or storekeeper in any of their private businesses, but because, most of these delegates do not consider Nigeria worth any such consideration”.

APC’s national convention has been scheduled for the 6th to the 8th of June in Abuja.
