Expectedly the coming 2023 Presidential election is a great opportunity for the youths to take advantage of their voting strength to speak with one voice.

Couple with the fact that over 70 percent of the Nigerian population consists of the youth who are the active drivers of the national economy and political arena. This Simply means that the young ones have major and active roles to play in the political spectrum of our dear nation.

It’s against this background that it has become very imperative to warn ourselves to be wary of The old and worn out politicians who are out again with their usual stocks in trade of buying the conscience and future of our youth, using the same looted funds meant for the development of our country which they have acquired through decades of embezzlement and are deploying same to entice us to further mortgage our future.

It is worthy to emphasize that if there is any State in Nigeria that has openly identified with the youths and that has allowed greater participation of younger generation in the affairs of its state is Kogi state under the leadership of the young and vibrant leadership of Governor yahaya Bello.

Bean a youth himself, Governor Bello upon assumption of office five years ago took a drastic change in the style of governance by engaging youths in all aspects of the administration of the state which is a direct departure from the old practice in which retired Elders with old and archaic ideology have been running the state aground with their insatiable appetite for looting the commonwealth of the state and the future of the younger generation.

Soon as Governor Yahaya Bello assumed the leadership of the State. Seasoned youths with sound intellectual prowess and performance from various spheres of life were drawn to occupy positions of power and authority in the state and the State economy as since began to witness rapid growth and development ever since.

Having injected young Bloods into running the affairs of Kogi State, Governor also set up a youth development commission to interface directly with the youths in other to get them engaged positively for self-reliance and collective development of the State.

The establishment of the commission which is geared towards bringing youths into the mainstream of governance and giving the young ones the platform to harness and exhibit their potentials has given Youths of Kogi State a good sense of belonging.

The youth body is made up of a crop of intelligent, energetic, and enterprising individuals with great zeal and passion for moving Kogi forward.

Kogi State is the first state in Nigeria since the inception of Democracy to have created this kind of formidable platform for youths to be actively and directly involved in the Government and daily running of the affairs of the State.

Before Governor Bello emerges as Governor all executive, legislative and appointment positions, were the exclusive reserves of the older politicians who are usually well above the sixties and seventies. years Olds.
