The senate minority leader, Senator Phillip Aduda represent the the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) on Sunday, paid a visit to the Emir of Minna, Niger state, His Royal Highness (HRH) Alhaji Dr Umar Faruq Bahago at his palace.
Aduda, who led his colleagues senator’s Chukwuka Utazi, Senate Minority Whip, Senator Shuaibu Lau, Deputy Minority Leader and Senator Danjuma La’ah, Deputy Minority Whip, told the monarch he led his colleagues to come and confide on him on the buildup to the 2023 general elections.
He added that the PDP senate caucus also came to seek the monarch’s guidance and wise counsel as well as to canvass support for their party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.
“And we felt that there was need to come here and as our father and custodian of our traditional heritage of people of Minna, Niger state,” he said.
Aduda, said it would not be proper for him and his colleagues who came all the way from Abuja, to Minna, without coming to visit the monarch and get his royal blessing.
He said “for me, is a home coming, because I am part of this palace and I am a son here. And of course, part of my family is even a traditional title holder at Maikunkele in Bosso local government area of the state, where you graciously gave us Hakimi (District head) there,”.
The senate minority leader, who said he was very excited to meet the emir, saying he is also a son to the monarch.
Responding, the emir appreciated the senate caucus for finding time out of their tight schedule to paid him a visit at his palace.
He, however, prayed for peaceful and successful upcoming 2023 general elections in the country.
“And for my son, distinguished Senator Phillip Aduda, really you are son of this state and I am very elated for identifying with not only me but other people across the state,” the Emir said.”
