2023: Southeast PDP chieftain, Iroegbulam rallies support for Orji, asks co-aspirants to step down to Abia speaker

A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party from Abia State and the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Demukas Laundry and Dry-cleaning Service, Chief Chukwemeka Iroegbulam (Muge), has rallied support for the 2023 National Assembly bid of the Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji.

Recall that Orji who earlier was called upon to run for the governorship seat of Abia state by critical stakeholders and socio-cultural and political groups in the state rescinded the calls, and decided to contest the Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal constituency seat in the House of Representatives in the 2023 general elections necessitated by the appeal by Stakeholders from the constituency-led by Chief Emeka Inyamah.

Addressing newsmen in a press conference in Umuahia, the state capital, on Tuesday, Chief Iroegbulam, who was also the immediate past Special Adviser to Abia State Governor, said Orji has demonstrated uncommon leadership, hinged on the implementation of meaningful Infrastructural projects in umuahia central state constituency and beyond, citing the most of the projects which include, construction of mini stadiums, the building of houses to less privileged, the attraction of the massive road construction in Umuahia central and beyond, facilitation of federal and state employees to indigent Abia citizens, empowerment of indigent Abia citizens through the offer of Educational Scholarship scheme in all levels of education, initiation of skill Acquisition training, and empowerment of Abia youths with vehicles to fetch for their daily needs and their families.

The PDP Stalwart continued, “the Speaker equally fostered the existing harmonious relationship between the executive and the legislative arms of government in the state, which saw the Governor Okezie Ikpeazu-led administration delivering on its electoral promises in the state. He contributed immensely to the political stability of God’s Own State today, etc. So, there is no doubt that he has raised the bar in human, economic, and Infrastructural growths and development, which are highly emulative, laudable, and second to none”.

Chief Iroegbulam, who holds the traditional title of Agbawodikeizu II and Akunwata of Ekenobizi Umuopara in Umuahia South Local Government Area of Abia State, confided that Rt Hon Chinedum Orji will provide and attract a greater number of tangible developmental projects when supported to emerge as the PDP House of Representatives Standard bearer for the seat of Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency seat in House of Representatives in the forthcoming PDP primaries, and as well, elected into the green chamber of the National Assembly in the main general elections in 2023.

He further reiterated that the Speaker has the needed capacity, ability, competence, and expertise to rewrite the narratives of governance in the Ikwuano/Umuahia federal constituency when elected as a member of the Nigerian House of Representatives come 2023.

“The people of Ikwuano, Umuahia North, and Umuahia south local government areas that formed IKwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency should expect more effective and responsive representation from the Speaker, Rt Hon Chinedum Orji. He is a quintessential leader of excellence. He has achieved laudable and tremendous strides that have enhanced and uplifted many livelihoods in Umuahia and beyond. And on that basis, we, the people of Ikwuano/Umuahia extraction called upon him to join the national assembly race to bring more live changing projects to the constituency through the business of the lawmaking. I will seize this opportunity to call on all PDP delegates to support the Speaker to emerge as flag-bearer of the party in the forthcoming primaries to enable consolidate his wonderful achievements.

Asked about the rationale behind his withdrawal from the 2023 Abia House of Assembly race for Umuahia south state constituency seat, Chief Iroegbulam who is an international Business tycoon, hinged his decision after wide consultation with critical stakeholders of Umuahia south local government area of Abia state.

His words: “I embarked on thorough consultations, meeting people and critical stakeholders in the Umuahia south Constituency on my 2023 Abia Assembly bid, but, today, I have decided to voluntarily withdraw from the race which the reason is best known to me”.

Irregular also called on all eligible voters from Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency and Abians at large to get their Permanent Voters Card (PVC) and cast their votes for the Speaker and all PDP candidates during the upcoming main general elections in 2023 to enable them to continue to bring dividends of democracy to every doorstep of the populaces.
