One of the foremost House of Assembly hopeful under the Peoples Democratic Party, Hon Christabel Eremah Ekwu, said when voted in, women who deserve so much will surely get more. Mrs Christabel reiterated this in a chat with our correspondent from her Akoko-Edo base on Wednesday. “One of my major focuses when elected as a member representing Akoko-Edo Constituency 1 would be the empowerment of women. Women should not be relegated to the position of neglect because their contributions to nation building through family management is key.”
She said as philanthropist with limited resources, she has always factored in the plight of women in the dispensation of her humanitarian activity.
“I will sit down as soon as I assume office with critical stakeholders in my constituency to chart a clear way for women. Their welfare, healthcare, economy, education and training would be what I shall be very very interested in,” she said in a matter of factly. She however added that more women should come out to contest elective positions instead of taking the background drop of being just voters.
