Executive Director of the group, Comrade Alfa Ebune, while addressing a press conference in Lokoja on Thursday, said, “there is no country that can develop when political appointees are highly corrupt”, noting that President Tinubu’s proactive step in handling a financial saga involving one of his Ministers (Betta Edu) was a right step in the right direction.

“The step Mr President has taken so far over the alleged financial recklessness going on in the ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and poverty alleviation, shows that he is ready to fight corruption to its barest minimum in the country.

“Betta Edu’s alleged involvement in corruption should serve as a litmus test for the current administration and her suspension from office to enable a thorough investigation is a welcome development” he said.

While commending the President for taking decisive action with a view to know what really happened in the ministry, Ebune appealed to the president to allow justice take it’s course to serve as deterrent to other appointees in the government.

“It is obvious now that President Tinubu has the capacity and the political will to fight corruption in Nigeria. We are also appealing that there should be no sacred cows in the fight.

“The report and recommendations of the investigative panel should be implemented fully in the interest of the country” he added.

It would be recalled that the bursting of corrupt practices in the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, has awakened Nigerians to patriotism, as they hailed the President for the swift response to the scandal.
