Kogi State Govt. Suspends all illegal collections revenue on roads
….Kogi Internal Revenue Service says the era of illegal revenue collection along the roads have been abolished.
Addressing newsmen today in Lokoja, the Chairman of the State Internal Revenue Service, Alhaji Sule Salihu Enehe said the state has harmonised the process of tax collection to phase out the era of illegality
According to him, the Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo had issued a circular to the effect leading to the termination of the appointments of all consultants on revenue collection in ministry, department and agencies.
He explained that the development will eradicate all revenue leakages in the state.
According to him, the Internally Generated Revenue Services and the State Internal Revenue Services have been directed to take charge of all revenue in the state.
He warned that all stakeholders including the security agencies have been briefed about the development and advised those with shoddy deals to desist.
While fielding questions with newsmen, the chairman of the Revenue Services said the state is currently working towards a target of 30.4 billion revenue generation in year 2024.
He maintained that the state will launch a device for revenue payment to eradicate the printing of fake receipt to circumvent the revenue meant for the state government.
Alhaji Enehe emphasised that the State Revenue Services had not failed in its cooperate responsibilities noting that the 10% accruable to the revenue house is used to offset internal expenses and those that will benefit the state.
The chairman equally support the idea of harmonising local government tax collection with that of the state which according to him had improved revenue generation of local government as against the previous records.
