A Pro-democracy group, the Abia Rejoice Movement(ARM), on Friday, lauded the Governor Alex Otti on the recent flag-off and commencement of the reconstruction of umuahia-uzuakoli-Akara-Abiriba-ohafia road.
In a statement issued on Friday on behalf of its leader, Dr Uchechukwu Sampson Ogah, the Abia movement hailed Governor Otti-led administration for its pragmatic intervention to fix the roads which according to the group, has been a death trap for years and also neglected by past administrations in the state.
The organisation further pointed that the ever strategic Umuahia-Uzuakoli-Abiriba-Ohafia Road upon completion will ease human and vehicle movement
“It will aid commercial activities, attract investors and by extension, give a facelift to Abia north senatorial district.
“We’re progressive and we reason beyond political affiliation or interest hence we recognize that Dr. Otti’s emergence as Governor has significantly rekindled the glory of Abia,”the APC umbrella group added.
GLOBAL TIMES Nigeria reports that the stretch from Umuahia end to Uzuakoli, about 22.6 kilometres, is being handled by Craneburg, while Isuikwuato to Abiriba, 22.5 kilometres, and Abiriba to Ohafia, 22.5 kilometres, are being handled by Ferotex Construction Company and CCECC, respectively.
Speaking at the flagging-off ceremony on Wednesday, Governor Alex Otti explained that the whole idea of embarking on the road project was for the people of Abia state to drive on motorable roads, and be able to easily evacuate their farm produce from the hinterland areas to the towns.
He stressed that all his administration was doing was to make Abia truly number one, not just in alphabetical order but in terms of development.
