Gov’t officials, security personnel turned banditry into a business venture – Katsina Governor, Umar  Radda

Following the prevailing unfortunate situation in the country and why insecurity will end, Katsina State Governor, Dikko Umar Radda, has revealed why banditry hasn’t been nipped in the bud despite huge amount of money budgeted for.

Governor Radda spoke when he appeared on Channels Television on Friday, May 3, accused some security personnel and government officials of aiding banditry which he said have now turned into a “business venture”.

Global Times Nigeria recalled that there had been unabated kidnapping and banditry activities in the country most especially in the northern region spanning over a decade with no solution to contained the unfortunate situation.

“Now it is out to be a business venture. A business venture for the criminals, some people who are in government; and some people who are in security outfits, and some people who are responsible for the day-to-day activities of their people.

These are so many reasons why we are not unable to bring banditry to an end,” he said. According to him, many youths in the north are recruited into banditry with a mere N500.
