Funkekeme charges Gov Oborevwori’s media aides on synergy, professionalism
…Emphasizes need to focus on MORE Agenda Document
Senior Policy Adviser to Delta State Governor, Rt Hon Funkekeme Solomon, has charged media and communication aides to governor Sheriff Oborevwori, to work as a team, shun eye service and to exhibit high standard of professionalism in the discharge of their assigned responsibilities.
He gave the charge on Monday in Asaba at an interactive section and presentation of copies of “Delta State Service Compact With Deltans” as encapsulated in the Servicom document, to the media and Communication units of Government House Asaba.
According to the Senior Policy Adviser to governor Oborevwori, the state governor directed that in order to achieve efficient and timely delivery of quality services to all Deltans; all ministries, departments, agencies and political appointees are duty bound to be proactive, responsive, patriotic and accessible in line with the spirit and letters of Servicom.

Funkekeme, emphasized the need for media aides to the Governor to report achievements of government from diverse perspectives in form of pictorials, stories, articles, spotlights, and documentaries in traditional and social media platforms, as well as, online newspapers, community newspapers and blogs, pointing out that such stories and articles or materials must be able to project the achievements of the governor, from time to time.
He advised media and communication aides to avoid self praise, petty squabbles, eye service, and stay focused on the MORE Agenda Document which is the governors roadmap in advancing Delta, saying that they must of a necessity work together as one united team with the common goals of projecting the achievements, policies and programmes of this administration.
“Every government has a unique style of governance to reflect the vision and mission of the governor in power. This administration under our amiable governor, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, has adopted a progressive, and people focused governance strategies.
“We are gathered here today for the purpose of sharing the governor’s vision and mission statements in the area of quality service delivery.
“The media is very critical in governance, and your roles as media aides to the governor is very important, such that you must exhibit high level of professionalism, discipline and patriotism.
“The SERVICOM document is our guide. It was launched on 30th July, 2008. Deltans have the right to be served right, which is the main objective of Servicom.
“Governor Oborevwori’s need more friends, not more enemies. It is the duty of the media and communication aides to disseminate and communicate information responsibly, diligently explain policies, programmes and achievements of this administration. You must work together to achieve the governor’s goals, not individual goals in the media space.
“You are to share responsibilities and deal with issues from diverse perspective to achieve government goals and objectives via the traditional and social media organizations/platforms,” Funkekeme said.
The highlight of the interactive section was the presentation of copies of Delta State of Nigeria ‘Service Compact With All Deltans,’ to the Executive Assistant on Communications to the Governor, and Head of Delta State Orientation Bureau, Dr Latimore Oghenesivbe, and Mr Felix Ofou, Executive Assistant to the Governor on New Media, being the most senior media and communication aides present at the interactive section with the Senior Political Adviser to the Governor.
The meeting held at the Press Centre, Government House Asaba, was well attended by majority of the Governor’s media and communication aides across the three senatorial districts.
