Focus on Olamaboro LGC on how Williams restoring lost glory
…..Pledges massive transformation, set up Revenue Taskforce, to meet People’s obligations
The new Olamaboro local government area of Kogi State has begin with the solid foundation laying by the adminstration of Comr. Ameh Williams, the Transition Committee Chairman, TCC.
This, Williams has also initiated a reconciliation to reconciled all aggrieve members of the All Progressives Congress, APC, with aims to ensure development of the area.
Comr. Williams while Inaugurating the Local Internal Generated Revenue, LIGR, committee at the Council Secretariat, Okpo, the LG adminstrative headquarters.
The Chairman charged the committee to work hard towards collation of revenue at the designated areas.
He noted that the committee was part of the local government’s efforts in looking inwards for the enhancement of revenue generation and restructuring the earnings from commercial sales.
According to him, “the steep drop in revenue from general sales and leakages has hampered government capacity to meet obligations to the people, especially infrastructure, portable water, quality education and improved healthcare delivery services among others, to the public”.
Williams added that the committee is expected to harmonise the tax administration in the local government; deal with revenue matters of common concern to the Local Government authorities; enlighten members of the public on state and Local Government revenue matters, among others.
The Chairman charged the committee members to work diligently with total commitment and loyalty in bringing about the desired change in the revenue drive, mobilization, generation and collection to the Local Government Council.
The Chairperson of the Committee, Mrs Mary S Abogede who was a former revenue officer in the local government, promised to support the readiness of the workaholic Caretaker Chairman of Olamaboro LGA who has shown capacity to deliver his mandate as directed by the Executive Governor of Kogi State Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo .
The Revenue Officer (RO) Mr Aboh Yakubu, said the members would discharge their responsibilities diligently without fear or favour. Thank Governor Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo for appointing the People’s choice who is dedicated to his job and performing beyond expectation.
