Ighodalo greets Edo Queens for Winning 2024 NWFL Title

…..Says Conquering Africa is Doable

The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the September 21 governorship election in Edo State, Dr. Asue Ighodalo, has congratulated the Edo Queens for winning the 2024 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) title.

In a statement by The Asue Media Organisation (TAMO), Dr. Ighodalo expressed his joy at what he called a “historic feat” by the Benin Girls, stating that with this victory, conquering the continent is within reach.

“It is gladdening to hear that our beautiful and hardworking Edo Queens have won the NWFL title for 2024. This is the spirit of excellence for which Edo is known. I am not surprised because the spirit of sporting excellence is second nature to us in Edo State.

“I am particularly happy because this is a historic feat; it is the first time the team is winning the title. Moreover, it has also qualified them to represent Nigeria at the CAF Women’s Champions League.

“What this means is that there is more work to do. So, girls, I encourage you to be ready to give your all as a team and as individuals. We are solidly behind you, ready and willing to cheer you all the way to the top. Congrats.”

Dr. Ighodalo assured that sports, being one of the areas where the state enjoys a comparative advantage, will be given the necessary attention it deserves. He emphasized that sports are a veritable means of employment for the youth and wealth creation, and will be fully harnessed to give the state maximum returns.

“We have already identified sports as a major area through which we hope to generate massive employment for our youth and earn reasonable income because Edo enjoys a comparative advantage in sports. Whatever we need to do to realize our vision, we will do it for the good of all. Our only appeal for now is to vote for us and make it possible for us to serve you and create a new Edo State for all of us.”
