As the electoral battle for the soul of Edo State’s number one finest political stool thickens, the Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Blessing Agbebaku, has consolidated his mobilization efforts for Dr. Asue Ighodalo, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
This was made known, during his routine weekend tour of Owan West, with a notable philanthropist and a mobilizer, Mr. Peter Enahoro Marshall, aka ‘Somebody’, and some Assembly functionaries in attendance.
The Speaker who honored an invitation ceremony for the inauguration of newly elected Executive Members of the Owan West Tailoring Association at Uzebba, congratulated the leadership of the body for a hitch-free exercise.
While soliciting support for the PDP candidate, described Asue Ighodalo as the only one qualified to take over from the outgoing governor of the State, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, saying, “This is beyond party affiliation.
“Today, we have a speakership position in Owan West, and we must ensure we guide it jealously, by voting for Ighodalo in the September 21 election.
“The speakership has brought us countless gains – Sabongidda-Ora-Ugbubezi/Sobe road, Umeahi Central School, Uzebba, Uzebba Shampoo mall, provision of transformers to areas and communities in need in Owan West, solar street projects, employment opportunities and a host of others.”
On his part, Peter Enahoro, popularly known as Marshall, lauded the Speaker for the dividends of democracy he has been attracting to Owan West, emphasizing that, “this Speaker has been working to ensure his people benefit, assuring that; “I have decided to team up with Blessing Agbebaku to secure victory for the PDP flag bearer
“We will join the Speaker to secure victory, come September this year.”
Similarly, Barr George Enareba, a member of the Edo State Law Commission and Legal Adviser to the Association, urged the people to throw their weight behind the PDP candidate.
At Uzebba Ward 9, the Speaker was warmly received by party faithful, before receiving decampees from the APC into the PDP.
Shortly after his engagements at Uzebba, he paid a courtesy visit to the Elders and leaders of Oke-Old Ora, in the company of the LGA PDP chairman, Engr David Okoh-Aigbodion, where Comrade Solomon Ohiro, spokesperson of the gathering, described the speaker as their son, adding that, “the community is solidly behind you.
“For you to have opted to come and see the elders, despite the elders’ earlier request to come and see you, is a sign of humility.
“We thank you for employing and appointing our people.
“The Lord will continue to lead you higher and may the peace and blessings of God be with you.”
