…Setting The Records Straight

On Thursday, July 11, a misleading article was published in the Nigerian Watchdog and Legit online newspapers. The badly written article, purportedly written by a fictitious socio-economic group called Arise for Imo Tomorrow, commended the Executive Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodimma, former illegal Governor Emeka Ihedioha, and Afrexim Bank for the commencement of work on the $200 million Afrexim Quality Assurance and Testing Center constructed in Ngor Okpala, Imo State.

However, a closer examination of the facts reveals glaring inconsistencies and lies.

Reading through the poor work of propaganda which had the picture of the former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives on the banner headline you could see clearly that it was nothing short of a desperate attempt to rewrite history, stand fact on its head and deceive the public.

A closer examination of the facts reveals glaring inconsistencies and lies that cannot be ignored.

Firstly, the group ARISE FOR IMO TOMORROW is non-existent, raising questions about the authenticity of the bogus claims of the article.

Furthermore, there is no record of a groundbreaking ceremony led by Prof. Oramah on January 6, 2020, as falsely claimed in the article anywhere in Imo state as that only exists in Ihedioha’s imagination.

Additionally, from the facts of the news in the public domain, the Certificate of Occupancy (C of O) allegedly granted by Mr. Ihedioha was for Egbule Obube, whereas the actual AFRIEXIM AQAC center is located in Umuowa, Ngor-Okpala Local Government Area.

These discrepancies demonstrate that the claims that the Ihedioha’s illegal administration got the project for the state was misleading and false as the initiative was never genuine, and Ihedioha’s team is attempting to reap where they did not sow.

The fact that Afrexim Bank did not take any action during Ihedioha’s seven-month illegal occupation of Imo State Government house, despite his supposed efforts, speaks volumes about the lack of confidence in his administration and ostensibly a vote of no confidence on his person as he was never credible to be trusted with such a deal.

A statement issued by Ambrose Nwaogwugwu, the Senior Special Assistant, SSA, to Imo State Governor on Electronic and Creative Media, said It is evident that the present government, led by Hope Uzodimma, has revived the project, and it is unfair to try to take credit for something that was never initiated or accomplished by Ihedioha’s illegal administration.

From the records, the reported trips to Russia by Ihedioha was one of his over 50 foreign trips in 7 months where he fretted away Imo State scarce resources on jamborees which never had any positive impact on the state.

In conclusion, the Ihedioha’s desperate attempt to distort facts and take credit for non-existent achievements will not stand.

The public deserves the truth, and it is clear that Ihedioha’s team is desperate to revive his near dead political career by clinging to the accomplishments of others to remain afloat.

We have intercepted very credible intelligence that the Ihedioha team are deliberating ways to keep him on the limelight by using appropriation of the achievements of the Shared Prosperity government as theirs as a launching pad and as such, we expect more of such outlandish claims going forward, but we must caution and advise: Ihedioha to engage in genuine community services or projects like empowerment programmes or philanthropy to remain relevant, if he must, rather than appropriating the achievements of others as we shall always be here to strengthen the records with facts and figures from genuine names and sources.
