APC Violence: Setting the Record Straight – PDP New Media

The Edo State New Media of the People’s Democratic Party,
PDP, Gubernatorial Campaign Council has been drawn to a publication by Osigwe Omo-Ikirodah, where he dubiously claimed that there was an assassination attempt on the life of Monday Okpebholo the APC Gubernatorial candidate. This is another deliberate fabrication of falsehood from the APC.

The truth however, is that the APC led by Monday Okpebholo, and a former impeached deputy governor of Edo State assembled hundreds of thugs and marched into the streets of Benin shooting sporadically, destroying cars and properties as they attempted to March the thugs to the office of the deputy Governor to forcefully enforce a court judgment in a case in which he is fully aware have been appealed by the Edo State House of Assembly.

In a statement issued by
Pharez Okpere, Deputy Director General New Media,
PDP Gubernatorial Campaign Council, said the impeached former deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu who went to court, having submitted himself to the jurisdiction of the Court and have become aware of the appeal against his acclimated victory at the trial court is duty bound not to do anything to over reach the Court of Appeal or force a state of helplessness on the Court of Appeal or on the Appellants themselves in the appeal.

The unruly behavior witnessed in Benin City yesterday constitute an affront to the Court of Appeal who is seized of the matter.

“We are cognizant of the fact that the APC orchestrated the events of yesterday to deliberately heat up the polity.”

Monday Okpebholo who released an official statement yesterday, claiming that he was shot and in critical condition in an undisclosed hospital was seen marching on the streets with known thugs few mins after the Cococted statement was released.

“We hereby call on the security agencies to immediately arrest Monday Okpebholo and Philip Shaibu for instigating the violence they melted out on innocent Edo people who were going about their lawful businesses.”

Monday Okpebholo and the APC knowing that they will be rejected by Edo people in the September 21st gubernatorial election, have now resorted to intimidation and violence in an attempt to forcefully sell an unpopular candidate.

Edo People, will continue to peacefully resist the evil intentions of the APC and their merchants of terror. No amount of intimidation will stop wheel of progress of the PDP and our candidate Dr. Asue Ighodalo.
