Phillip Shaibu and APC should be held responsible for sponsoring violence on Edo people.
It was a peaceful day and everyone was going about their normal daily activities until the impeached deputy governor of Edo State decided to take laws into his hands in his determination to enforce a judgement that questioned how he was removed from office.
It is public knowledge that the Edo State house of Assembly had appealed the judgement and also filed for a stay of execution. The counter legal response by the State house of Assembly simply means that the judgement obtained by Mr Phillip Shaibu reinstating him cannot be enforced until the court decides fully on the matter which will most likely get to the supreme Court.
Osagie Blames Shaibu For Thursday’s Violence In Benin
The attempt by the impeached deputy governor to recruit thugs to force his way into the office of the deputy governor is a clear resort to self help, an afront on constituted authorities, and a clear call for anarchy as there cannot be two deputy governors in one State.
We call on the security operatives to quickly rein in Mr Phillip Shaibu before things degenerate further. Edo people are aware that the APC has always boasted of using federal might in this election and so we see the actions of the impeached deputy governor as a clear demonstration of their boast.
We urge our teaming supporters to remain calm and resolute as no amount of intimidation will change our resolve to vote Dr Asue Ighodalo as the next governor of Edo State come September 21st , the theatrics of Phillip Shaibu and the lies of APC his co-travelers not withstanding.
