The Chief Executive Officer of Wisdom Gate Global Resources Limited, Chief Tony Ologun, has expressed confidence in the performance of the Senator Representing Kogi West Senatorial District at the National Assembly, Mr Sunday Karimi Steven.
Chief Ologun during an interactive session with newsmen in Lokoja described Karimi as a thorough breed politician with outstanding records right from the time he served at the House of Representatives.
He said Senator Karimi is a man of integrity with unmatched records politically noting that his contributions in the aspect of education particularly the bursary award, construction of army forward base at Egbe after sad event of bank robbery, as well as series of empowerment programmes to youths women and men to cushion the effect of subsidy removal are outstanding.
He described those castigating him on lukewarmness as politicians without vision emphasising that a drowning individual will definitely held on to straws.
On the current Economic hardship being faced by Nigerians, Chief Ologun commended the Federal Government for granting autonomy to the Local Government.
He described the step as a way of bringing government closer to the grassroots level.
He also suggested stiff price control on consumable items through the conversion of former offices of both Social Democratic Party and National Republican Convention to a produce department where all palliative will be stored up and be sold at a subsidised rate to the people.
His words. ” we need to utilise former SDP and NRC offices across the seven hundred and seventy four local Government areas in the country as store house. When that is combine with silos built for storage purposes, the paliatives can go directly there with heavy documentation to avoid diversion.
There can also be cooperative societies through which such paliatives can be assessed and restrictions placed so that an individual cannot buy more than a bag or two at most. With that, prices of food items will nosedived because of competition orchestrated by government.
The paliatives meant to cushion the effect of subsidy removal are not felt by the people, most are diverted by the enemies of the nation. Though such is a temporary solution, we must at back of our mind embark on aggressive development in agriculture and depend less on foreign nation. We must be able to produce what we consume to be great”.
He expressed worried over the diversion of palliatives by greedy individuals emphasising that with good price control and moderations in individuals assessment of palliatives, food price will definitely come down.
The elder statesman also commended Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo on his performance so far noting that he has demonstrated what is expected of a true democrat.
He appealed to those at the helm of affairs to take issues of security serious to reignite the passion of people in agricultural activities.
