Delta Bureau Chief Commends Youths Over Boycott, Peaceful Protest Against Bad Governance

…Says Gov Oborevwori ‘ll soon unveil job, wealth creation entrepreneurship programmes

Youths in Delta State have been commended for boycotting the planned protest against bad governance by the federal government in Nigeria, under the All Progressives Congress, APC, which commenced on Thursday August 1, 2024, across the nation.

Chief Executive Officer of Delta State Orientation and Communications Bureau, Dr Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe made the commendation in a statement on Thursday, saying that the maturity and patriotism displayed by a handful of them who came out and conducted themselves peacefully is also worthy of commendation.

He noted that the actions and inactions of the Youths clearly revealed their collective vote of confidence on the youth friendly governor, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, JP, while assuring them of government sustained partnership, as can be seen from the balanced composition of members of the State Executive Council where the youths are fully represented.

Oghenesivbe who doubles as the Executive Assistant on Communications to Governor Oborevwori, noted that the ruling party in the state, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, had to ensure that out of the 50 local government Chairmen and Vice Chairman, over 90 percent of them are youths duly elected, pointing to show the high premium placed on the younger generation by governor Oborevwori in his administration.

He said their grievances has been duly expressed, and message transmitted to the federal government under the leadership of President Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress, APC, urging the youths of Delta, and by extension Nigerian Youths to allow unrestricted flow of economic activities, and to also go about their normal social and economic activities.

The State Orientation and Communications Chief further stated that after the official commissioning of Dangote Refinery in 2023, the Federal Government no longer have moral and legal justification to import refined fuel with taxpayers money, noting that the refinery has the capacity to refine and supply Premium Motor Spirit, PMS (fuel) to the entire Africa continent.

Oghenesivbe disclosed that governor Oborevwori is working round the clock to unveil job and wealth creation programmes in the near future, aimed at raising thousands of young entrepreneurs in the state, in fulfilment of his electioneering campaigns promises under the MORE Agenda.

“Delta youths are the best. They walked the talk by boycotting the national protest Against Bad Governance. The few people who came out to fulfil all righteousness conducted themselves peacefully, allowing significant economic activities in the state.

“The national government under APC introduced harsh economic policies resulting in acute hunger, high inflation, poverty and frustration. It’s time for President Tinubu to review these policies to address acute hardship, high inflation and persistent hunger in the country.

“Millions of small and medium scale business have been closed in Nigeria, due to anti people harsh economic policies introduced by President Tinubu.

“With the official commissioning of Dangote Refinery, Mr President and agencies of the federal government, including the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, NNPCL, have no moral and legal justifications to import fuel.

“Sufficient crude oil should be supplied to Dangote Refinery to refine fuel for our domestic use. All fuel importation should be stopped forthwith, to save taxpayers money.

“In Delta State, Governor Oborevwori is partnering with the Youths. He’s working round the clock to unveil several youth Entrepreneurship programmes that would raise thousands of entrepreneurs in the Agricultural sector, Technological Skills Acquisitions, Vocational Training and the Creative Industry.

“The boycott of the protest by majority of the youth and the maturity displayed by insignificant number of them that protested, impliedly revealed their collective vote of confidence on governor Oborevwori.

“The governor iis obviously inspired and moved by the youths collective loyalty, and he will not take it for granted, Oghenesivbe assured.
