Rector, Nigeria Korea Friendship urges organisations to collaborate with tertiary institutions towards making Nigerians self reliant
Individuals and Cooperate organisations have been urged to partner with tertiary institutions capable of making Nigerians independent and self reliant.
Rector, Nigeria Korea Friendship Institute Lokoja, Mr William Charles Oluwatoyin made the appeal while speaking with newsmen in Lokoja.
Mr Charles said modern trend places emphasis on technical skills to make render saleable services rather than job seekers.
He urged politicians and stakeholders to look into the direction of skills acquisition rather than giving stipends that will always make them susceptible to manipulations.
The Rector explained all courses offered by the institution have been accredited by the National Board of Technical Education emphasising that the institution has also been giving the privilege to proceed her High National Diploma courses.
His words ” our institution is technically based. I can say that except for conversation and official matters, languages and General Studies wouldn’t have been offered. Our products are scattered everywhere in the country and beyond. They are doing great to the glory of God. We have one in Iceland practising. So many of our products have gone ahead to go for HND and University degrees. We are also planning to run our HND and am glad to tell you we are qualified for it.
He explained that about seventy percent of the staff had travelled to Korea for training thereby strengthening the bond between the two countries.
The Rector commended the state Government for creating the school and the enabling environment to thrive, noting that the school is currently working on solar powered car, solar powered tricycle and other projects including flood and security alert system.
He said the school is hoping to access Tertiary Education Trust Fund to assist in its engineering department.
