Warri South Approves Bursary Payment for 1,000 Students

The Warri South Local Government Area (LGA) has set a new precedent by becoming the first Local Government Area in Delta State to approve bursary payments for its students.

This landmark decision was made following a recent courtesy visit by the National Association of Delta State Students (NADESSTU) to the Executive Chairman of Warri South LGA, Comrade Isaac Agbateniyinero.

The visit, led by NADESSTU President, Comrade Monday Wiska, saw the association advocating for increased financial support for students from local government councils, emphasizing the escalating costs of education. According to the NADESSTU President, “While the state government is doing its best to support students through bursary disbursements, it is crucial for local governments to bolster these efforts by providing additional financial assistance.”

Responding to this appeal, Agbateniyinero announced the council’s commitment to disbursing bursaries to 1,000 students from Warri South.

He noted that this initiative is part of the larger “Sheriff Cares” program, which was officially launched on August 19th.

The National Association of Delta State Students expressed gratitude for this significant step, passing a vote of confidence in Chairman Agbateniyinero’s leadership.

They also called on other local government councils to emulate this initiative, underscoring the importance of supporting students at the grassroots level in these challenging economic times.
