The Chairman of Keffi Local Government Area, Honourable Mohammad Baba Shehu, has underscored the importance of education and research development, urging investors to prioritize these areas.
The council chairman, speaking at the book launch of ‘Forever’ authored by Mr. Mohammad Ohitoto Hussaini, held at the Assembly Hall of Nasarawa State University Keffi on Saturday, emphasized the significance of the occasion, highlighting its potential to provide insight into the pursuit of knowledge and offer solutions to critical issues hindering national progress.
Hon Baba Shehu highlighted the symbiotic relationship between research and publishing, observing that Nigeria’s academics grapple with significant challenges in research, and emphasizing that no country has achieved advancement without a robust commitment to research across social, scientific, and technical domains.
” These commitment is manifested largely through the allocation of vast resources, financial and material, to individual researchers and research institutions ” He pointed.
He described the author as a passionate, meticulous, and disciplined person, recalling that Ohitoto was one year his senior at Government College Keffi in 1983, and observing that Ohitoto fulfilled the duties of tower prefect during their secondary school days.
” And we all stayed in the same compound ,the famous Kaduna House and being my senior I have learnt from him the virtues of respect, discipline,hardwork and humility” He said.
The Keffi Council Chairman lauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Engineer Abdullahi Sule for prioritizing education in accordance with the Renewed Hope Agenda, acknowledging its significance as a vital investment. As Chairman of Keffi LGA, despite meager resources, my administration has made significant contributions to the growth of the education sector in the following ways.
Baba Shehu cataloged the various educational measures implemented by his administration, including the provision of 10,000 customized exercise books to public school students, 200 desk sets, and science laboratory kits for both senior and junior G.C.K students, among numerous other achievements.
